I heard that he could have played but had a tweaked ankle so they just rested him since they clearly wouldn't need him. May do the same this weekend.

Smart. Ankles are tough to get over. Rest him Saturday and he will have a month til the bowl game to get ready.

Actually since he wouldn't play again till Jan. 6th after the SECCG he would have a little over 4 weeks.

Henry Josey is easily a top 5 RB.

But I do know this list isn't about talent, simply a rehash of useless statistics. So, great list OP.

Someone finally said it.

January 6 is actually more than a month, but I agree that Bama should probably rest him until FSU.

Hope they let him plan in the Iron Bowl.
Auburn might need to recover a fumble or two to pull out the win.

OK I will bite Josey needs to be here somewhere. I looked at the rushing stats for everyone but Gurley (injuries) for USC, Bama, Auburn & Mizzou. I looked at the top 4 rushers for each team and added up the total carries and then divided by how much Davis, Yeldon & Mason each get the ball.

Figured percentage of carries each back got among the top 4 on his team

Yeldon gets 54.8%
Mason 48.2%
Davis 45.8%
Josey 36.5%

YPC
Yeldon 6.2
Davis 6.2
Josey 6.1
Mason 5.5

TD's
Mason 17
Josey 12
Yeldon 12
Davis 10

Yards
Mason 1153
Davis 1112
Yeldon 1022
Josey 855

Carries
Mason 208
Davis 179
Yeldon 164
Josey 140

Touchdowns per Carry
Josey 8.57%
Mason 8.17%
Yeldon 7.31%
Davis 5.58%

What is the point Joey's production is on par with all these other guys if you go by stats he just shares the load more as Mizzou's 3 backs are all pretty good.

As much as I have defended Davis' position at the top for most of this season, I would definitely say that he is slipping quite a bit in recent games.

True he has been banged up and hobbled for most of those games, and was given a much-needed day off against Coastal Carolina this past weekend (we still rushed for 352 yds and 7 tds against the Chants, for a 7.8 ypc average), but he needs to rebound strong against Clemson and our 2 games after that....

The rushing touchdowns we scored versus Coastal Saturday were the first rushing TDs our team has scored since the Tennessee game. Think about that: we went scoreless on the ground vs Missouri, Miss State, and Florida. Thankfully our defense is now reaching it's stride in the final weeks of the season, holding those opponents and Coastal to 16 pts per gm in the past 4 games. And scoring 7 rushing TDs versus Coastal has righted the ship in that area, to say the least...

But Davis is still the most talented Rb in the league, IMO - in both running the ball and receiving the ball. That Davis only rushed for 233 total yds (77.67 ypg) in his last 3 games, yet STILL leads the SEC in rushing YPG speaks to this. But he's about to get passed at the finish line if he doesn't step up these last few weeks...
