In 2015 when there was talk of firing Miles, yes I think they were and if Les had been fired I think he comes to LSU.

The second go round, no I think that was bullshite.

There have been rumors that Jimbo had agreed to come in 2015 but Alleva decided to keep Miles at the last second and Fisher was left at the altar.

He was supposedly so pissed at this, that he told them to frick off at the end of 2016 when Orgeron ended up being retained and wasn't interested in 2021 either, when BK ended up being hired.

I don't think Jimbo was ever an option in 2021, he had just finished #5 in the country there and they were spending money like crazy to land the "best class ever." He had it made there, no reason to leave.

I always though Dave would be back at lsu if Baylor fired him. But he gets an extra year at Baylor (was on hot seat), and so does Baker (not really in a hot seat).

You guys think Dave boomerangs back to LSU?

Probably just depends on the timing of him leaving Baylor and Baker leaving LSU.

You think Jimbo’s playbook at LSU would have led to a National Championship? Idk about that. It was pretty archaic, and he refused to give up play calling.

Jay,
Look back in time where a pre nfl Nick Saban, Les Miles and then Ed O won three titles in the 2000s and look at your program’s best achievement which was a crackhead heisman.

It’s a program thing and Jimbo would have been in pretty good shape at a championship program.

We went after him hard but he was leveraging us to get a raise.

Who knew the missing piece was a trophy.

I guess a shite load of cash may be partly responsible, but you can't put a price on a trophy like that.

Let’s do this in stair step order my intellectually challenged friend:

1. Have you seen your team win a national title?
2. Did you win the big12 in this millenium?
3. Have you won the SEC?
4. Did you even win the division with a heisman?

It miiiiight be a program thing.

I agree that Jimbo would have won at LSU, hence, he’s better than Brian Kelly, who hasn’t. No need to take a test.

Alleva went hard after Jimbo to replace Miles. Woodward never went after Jimbo when replacing Orgeron

According to multiple seemingly legitimate sources (CBS, Sports Illustrated, etc.) LSU did approach him about the job post Coach O. Woodward and Jimbo were/are friends. They were at LSU together. Woodward hired him at Texas A&M. It would be more surprising if Woodward didn’t pursue Jimbo. At the time, Jimbo was coming off his most successful season at TAM and a final #4 BCS ranking.

Jimbo Fisher’s Contract Broke Dollege Football

quote:

When LSU came calling in 2021, Texas A&M doubled down. The Aggies signed Fisher to another 10-year, $95 million contract, which simply restarted the clock. Just two years later, however, those chickens came home to roost.

So LSU was openly approaching other coaches while Orgeron was still employed?

Before Nick Saban arrived in Baton Rouge, LSU had won one national championship in football in the previous 107 years.

Based on that, it would seem it was more a result of Nick Saban’s program than LSU’s program.

Miles rode it as long as he could and won a national championship. The stars aligned in Burrow/Chase/Jefferson/Stingley/Delpit/Brady and O won a national championship./. Now you are getting the Brian Kelly experience.

Saban fundamentally changed the LSU program for years. But his influence is now gone.

I thought only horn did that. It’s crazy how they shop for coaches before firing them.

I doubt anyone does that, if they did, there'd be no reason to fire coaches midseason.

They made sure they got Schloss while Pierce was still actively coaching. They interviewed coaches while Rodney Terry was still active.

They really do that. When they fire a coach, it’s because they have a replacement.

I remember when they got Sark, they went all out on Urban.
