I mean they did, at times. It's not like every team scored on every drive.

Weird that Alabama and Nebraska's opponents just stop trying to score, but everyone who played LSU kept trying.

The fact you need to find ways to "excuse" points your defense gave up is in itself an argument against the GOAT argument.

I'm not making a GOAT argument or excusing points the defense gave up, I'm simply saying LSU didn't "barely" win those games.

Ok, well the discussion is about the GOAT.

If you want to debate the meaning of "barely won", fine. But I'm going to disagree. I feel Alabama barely won against Florida in 2020, and I'm not going to change my standard for LSU where the scores were even closer.

The overall point is that the MoV differences between the teams are huge, and MoV is the metric to look at when most everything else is equal.

No. 2020 is an asterisk year in all sports. Bama played in stadiums that could only fill 25% of the capacity. The NC game was played against a team that won 7 games. Kind of hard to qualify them as best ever when not really faced with the best competition nor tough environments on the road.

Look at what happened 2 years later on the road to Tenn and LSU. Lost to both teams when stadiums were full. LSU had a completely different roster and new HC along with new coordinators.

Bama was good. But those numbers are inflated. Saban put the fear in his players and not many opted out. Where as many other top players from teams opted out.

I mean it is a bit different, 2020 Florida did possess the ball with a chance to tie.

2019 Alabama and Auburn didn't.

In a scrimmage during a year of scrimmages and female kickers.

No way a D1 has a female kicker play in a season that mattered.

No one outside of Tuscaloosa acknowledges 2020 as anything more than an experiment at best, at worst a weird fever dream that didn’t actually happen.

Stop crying because Vanderbilt had more highlights in the season than LSU.

Alabama is the only team in history to play a full schedule of P5 teams and go undefeated, 13-0.

How many of the 38 points LSU lost by do you think the LSU fan base could have made up for?

Did you not read anything or just cherry pick like a typical Bama fan. A majority of the teams that year dealt with multiple players opting out. LSU had a lot of injuries. Namely the QB and also had players opt out.

What did Bama do to an inferior opponent 2 years later in Tiger Stadium?

Are you telling me that all 13 teams that Bama played against were full squads? No opt outs? All stadiums full? Crowd noise does affect the opposing team. Bama found that out 2 years later.

When Bama played UGA they played a great game, to their potential. When they played Michigan, they looked like the Bad News Bears who all left their contact lenses at home. It happens.

But it does make one wonder, a game like that, which is so uncharacteristic of a Saban-coached team....???? Was ol Saban already on the sideline thinking about that new fishing boat and new set of Ping golf clubs, or was his heart still in it?

Alabama had the same conditions as every other team. All you are doing is citing the external factors that made the season even more difficult than a normal season.

And @ you bringing up games years later.

I guess Saban only had enough heart left to ruin Georgia's dreams.

The first 11 P5 teams had a combined record of 61-54. Congrats.

Let me know when Alabama plays 5 of the other 7 teams to finish in the Top 8 in one of their championship seasons and beats them by an average of 20 points.

Yes, if they could have stopped Pitts, I'd consider them up there with 95 Nebraska.

But unfortunately they didn't.
