The offense was the only thing that made that team competitive in a lot of games. One reason we were so bad last year is because all the offensive talent left.

The 2010 team was better in pretty much every area so if petrino couldn't win one with that team he wasn't going to with the 2012 team

Shitty recruiter (hence Arky was called 5.7 3* U) but he turns shitty recruiting classes into solid football teams

His best players (Mallett, Wilson, Davis, Adams, etc) were mostly 4* and 5* though.

His recruting was starting to catch up to him and that's why we were forced to start a safety last year that was 5'9 and ran a 4.7 40

Petrino works wonders (12-1 and 11-1 at Louisville) so he could have been the equalizer. Plus it was Petrino's 5th year at Arkansas and they had talented enough roster.

I still firmly believe that Petrino is a way better offensive coordinater than Saban.

FIFY

his teams have historically done nothing on the other side of the ball.

Wrong. I'm sick of the whole "he turned 2 stars into studs" argument. Mallett was a 5 star, Wilson a 4 star, Adams a 5 star, Wright a 4 star, Davis a 4 star and Childs a high 3 star and Jerico Nelson a 4 star. All of those were by far his best players and all except Davis were in the 2008 class which he walked into. He didn't do shite in recruiting after that. His only real success story with coaching up was Chris Gragg. After that 2008 recruiting class was gone, we were fricked no matter who was coaching.

Offensively, yes.

Defensively, advantage Saban.

All I can say is there was no coach I was happier to see on the Arkansas sideline than Petrino.

Hell no. Still didn't have the defense. Knile Davis had a garbage year. He ran scared all year.
