Just doing my part to try and spread the word to anyone out there that might be considering this guy's service.

Stolen from ElvisHog over on woopig, where the complaint is hosted:
here

quote:

Highlights:
* David (DJ) Smart from Rogers was signed up as a Three Star Package client.
* This package provides among other things, Marketing Promotion.
* DJ was getting mail from Vandy and Duke before signing up.
* According to the complaint, Walt didn't come close to meeting his end of the deal.
* Coaches at at least two schools said they hadn't heard of DJ after signing on with Walt.
* Biddy at Rivals hadn't heard of DJ until his dad told him about DJ.
* DJ's website wasn't updated and was inaccessible.
* DJ's dad took over getting the word out and mail started coming in.
* Walt acknowledged that he wasn't doing anything because he felt DJ's dad "didn't trust him" * Walt put the wrong name on DJ's video when he finally got it out.
* DJ ended up signing with SEMO.

Read for yourself. I consider this a PSA for parents that consider using Walt's service to promote their kids.

Babe Ruth called fricking shot.

Glad someone is exposing this guy.

If what the father alleges in his complaint is true, then wow. It will be interesting to read Williams' response when he files it.

I saw this in the facts section:

and I have no clue how Pinnacle Preps can offer "[u]p to a $200,000 'financial reward' in the way of financial assistance to pay for university tuition, books, and fees," when their clients are only paying, at the most, $3,000 for the five star package ($2,500 base fee + $500 video production fee). Unless the complaint is just poorly worded and Pinnacle Preps promised to help the kids land a scholarship worth up to $200,000 in assistance from the university they sign with?

That caught my eye too. It has to be the whole "value of a potential scholarship" angle.

He runs a company that "promotes" high school athletes to colleges in hopes of landing them scholarships. He played for Gus Malzahn when he was in high school. He claims to have been a football badass but, in fact, wasn't.

He has publicly blasted Arkansas fans and Petrino via various fan boards (hogville, rivals). He claims to be an unbiased adviser. He's also publicly stated his allegiances to Gus.

He's an agent.

Reward = value of a scholarship
...at least I think that's what he's trying to say. Worst_wording_ever

Based on what's been posted, Walt is a tool and his mouth will be his undoing.

I don't care what he does, within the rules of course, as long as he keeps sending his high profile guys Auburns way. Isn't Frazier another PP client?

Just figured I'd try and find out your allegiance and I guess I'm not surprised. I think it's funny when rival teams think enough of us to use their avatars for our players

Depends if the AG gets involved. Here's what I don't get. What is the end game for the promotion company?

His pool of potential customers are parents of kids who are marginal talent wise and way off the radar. If the kid has talent, he doesn't need a promotional company.

How will the promotion company going to make any real money? Are there that many parents who will fork over a few thous? Dunno

Here's an interesting tidbit

Does the company have permission to use the NCAA and NAIA logo on his company's documents? Use it as an avatar on a message board is one thing; use it for business purposes is another animal.

Also, what's his relationship with Nike and Under Armour? Does he have an agreement for his "clients" and their products?

Yeah, I think he's been a PP client since he was a freshman or sophomore. Some people have hypothesized that Walt's apology was a response to Frazier's dad. Supposedly Frazier's family are huge Hog fans. Some people on Richard Davenport's recruiting blog were basically saying that Walt would just steer Frazier to Auburn like he had done to Dyer. Frazier's dad chimed in and basically said that no one would influence his son's decision...not WW, not his parents, not his coaches.

FWIW, his Dad seems like a very bright person. I get the feeling that he'll separate himself even more so from WW now that this stuff is coming out.
