we haven't been ranked in 4 years. that's the answer.
"If you win, they'll come."
"If you win, they'll come."

I'm not overly confident in Dooley's ability to build a winner. That being said, I definitely don't think he's as bad as Shula.

I'm not sure why our basketball program getting hit hard would affect the fans opinion of Dooley.

I like Dooley a lot and hope he has success there. Why exactly at UT fans unhappy?
He has accomplished nothing except that he has a famous Dad... Dooley=Shooola=Tiny Terry Bowden
That's f'king stupid. Dooley may or may not be a decent coach but having a famous dad has absolutely no bearing on how well he will perform.

What's Vols basketball got to do with Dooley?

thats because he doesnt have the REC to back him. anyone can recruit with that type of help
Yeah, those old farts getting together every month for a mediocre meal are really burning up the recruiting trail.

There is a lot... A LOT of misinformation in this thread. But, hey... what am I to expect from an online thread.
A.) UT infractions, with football, were minor violations. LSU violations that were announced today were MAJOR.
B.) Very few Vol fans are "not buying what Dooley is selling". In fact, an overwelming majority believe he is the best person for the job. He has made countless number of steps in the right direction for the football program.
C. "arguably the best secondary in the SEC" was a direct quote from Phil Steele.
D. Those who believe Dooley is Shula 2.0, will be sadly mistaken.

Most Tennessee fans are sick of watching 6-8 win teams. Until Dooley puts together a good season, not many will buy in.
They need to give Dooley a chance first though. He head literally nothing to work with last year, and will have only a LITTLE more this year. Year 3, Dooley has a coming out party. Bank on it. Maybe not an SECCG appearance or anything, but it will be a season the fans will get behind. Bookmark it.

A lot of those same fans are willing to give him 5 years before even holding him to any respectable standard. In other words, many fans are simply so terrified of making a change that they'll bury their heads in the sand and assume everything is working out.

Exactly what kind of record are you talking about in year 3? There certainly should be some improvement in 2012, but I'm not sure how much there will be.
I've seen some reasons to be optimistic, but not enough to be confident that Dooley's the guy.

5 years may be too patient. Years 3 and 4 will be critical for him and his future.
As long as the defense beefs up, the overall product should be very good.

Agreed as well, but I'm not even sure he'll get a 4th year if the 3rd year sucks.

I believe he'll get at least 4. Last years depth at OL and DL was so thin, he has to have time to fill that gap.
Dooley as said several time, it was like last year was year zero instead of year 1. Just give the state of the program, and the end result of the 2009 class.

I think he'll be here in year 4, but it's just not guaranteed.
If Tennessee goes 7-5 the next two seasons, I'd bet he won't be back for 2013.
