I don’t know often you post on here but what you have to realize is that on these type of issues a number of the posters on this board are really dense to say the least. The player apologized on his Twitter account and said he did not condone his actions. Nowhere in his apology did he set out any of the bullshite narratives put forth by some on here to the effect that he was correcting or defending a trespass to property or acting in self-defense or in the defense of others because he feared for his or their safety. It is pretty obvious he acted out of frustration and that’s an explanation but of course not a legal justification and corroborates what you see on video. Undoubtedly, though, those who can’t bring themselves to admit that they are wrong (ironically unlike the player they are taking up for) will continue with their storytelling. Here is what he actually stated:

quote:
"I apologize for my actions during the chaotic postgame scene. Even though we got run into multiple times by fans while trying to exit the field, that doesn't condone my actions or define my character," Thomas wrote in the post. "I sincerely apologize. I wish Arkansas and their fans all the best. Big O."

“We got run into”
Clearly a 1:1 response IYAM
a girl and a guy bump into you harmlessly while you’re wearing state of the art protection? use your athletic prowess to hurl them 5 yards away.
They should know not to be in yo space man

keep seeing TN fans saying this, but there is absolutely zero evidence to back it up
Watch the video. He’s reacting to something.

Can you not just say that #21 was wrong.
I did, earlier in this thread. I also said that a sure fire way to not get pushed is to stay out of arms length of the guy. If you get in someones personal space, on a football field or anywhere, some will take offense to it.
Have you ever seen what happens when a dog that chases cars finally decides to bite the tire?
When you put yourself in potentially dangerous situations sometimes dangerous things happen.
It is an indictment of how soft and how overly sensational society has become that this thread has gone 17 pages with dozens of people saying the player should have been arrested.
When I opened the video I expected to see the player just beat the hell out of somebody. I rewatched it several times, I kept looking for what had caused so many to get their panties in such a wad. Then i realized everyone was THIS upset about THAT.

Actually, that's battery.
Assault is placing another person in fear or apprehension of a harmful or offensive touching.
depends on which state's code you're referring to.
In TN, for instance, assault is simply defined as
quote:
(a) A person commits assault who:
(1) Intentionally, knowingly or recklessly causes bodily injury to another;
(2) Intentionally or knowingly causes another to reasonably fear imminent bodily injury; or
(3) Intentionally or knowingly causes physical contact with another and a reasonable person would regard the contact as extremely offensive or provocative.
