Very possible that UGA has to beat BAMA to make playoff

I'm hearing from a lot of people that a SECCG between a one loss Alabama and undefeated Georgia would only determine if Alabama and Georgia both make the playoff, but Georgia would already be in.
If Cincy and OU win out, there's a one loss B10 champ and BAMA makes Atlanta with only one loss, then does UGA have to win to get in? They should go over an undefeated Cincy in that scenario, but would they? Fun time of year for hypotheticals that won't happen!

One loss Bama or UGA will be in over Cincinnati.
The P5 is running shite.

There are 6 weeks of games left before all that.

I think the CFP ranking of Cincy weighs a lot toward this.
If Cincy is #2 or 3 in the initial ranking and win out, they will be hard to justify being jumped later by a one loss conference champ, let alone runner up.
There are 4 spots for the CFPs and all 5 P5 conferences remain on track for an undefeated or one loss champ. Two P5 champs are getting left out if Cincy is in. A runner up isn't getting a spot in that scenario
For that reason, I won't be surprised to see Cincy at 4 or even 5 in first rankings.
Lots of football left though

Beat 10RC is all that matters. The Bama team has to get better if they intend to get to Atlanta.

Yet they play against highschool teams all year.

Yeah, with the instability at the top this year, I think there’s still a possibly that they both get in, using that scenario (a Georgia loss to Alabama).
Lot of football left though.

I think you have it backwards. Alabama has to beat UGA to get into the playoffs.
If Alabama plays and beats UGA in the SEC Championship it is likely that both get into the playoff, provided the game isn't a blowout.
A two loss Alabama might have a hard time getting in over a zero loss UGA, Oklahoma, Cincinnati, and a one loss Ohio State.
IMO, a Cincinnati playoff berth depends on Notre Dame winning the rest of their games.

No question.

Like the previous poster, Bama is having to play to get in, not UGA.
Every playoff prediction has UGA still over 90% to get in with a loss in the SECCG if they’re undefeated going in.
Too much football left to play, but it’s looking like the SECCG is only going to determine if the SEC gets 1 or 2 teams in.

I said that. Not sure where the disconnect is.

If Georgia goes to the SEC champ game and slips up against Alabama for one loss…. and the CFP committee puts in Cincinnati over Georgia…. The CFP committee should be disbanded. That would be a travesty of epic proportions.

You are right. That Cincy schedule is a joke and the Dawgs beat Cincy last year to boot

True, but didn’t out class them.

If UGA wins out but loses in the SECCG they're still in. The top of the Big Ten has yet to play each other. They're about to cannibalize themselves unless one of them runs the table. I think Cincy will be 5 in the first rankings because of strength of schedule. They beat a terrible Indiana team and a lackluster Notre Dame team. I'm not saying they shouldn't get in but there's still a lot of chaos that will unfold.

I do not think Cincy is left out now if they win out. The Iowa loss yesterday sealed that. Bama has to win out and beat UGA to make the CFP. UGA can lose to a game and will still make it. If OU wins out they are in, but will be seeded behind Cincy. The question now is which Conference gets two in.
