"Well technically Maine fan. But America East fans tend to root for the conference representative anyway once the tourney starts.
Anyway, this is the first time in years the conference is unhappy with the actions of the champion. While this should be a bigger story, it's pretty well-known around the conference. Their star basketball player who graduated in 2020 and spent a few weeks in the NBA was accused of raping a UVM swimmer. That swimmer reported this to the university and their AD went of his way to downplay her claims so his star player wouldn't be suspended. Since then, an instagram account called shareyourstoryUVM was created in which there were over 10 accusations against former UVM basketball players. There have also been calls on campus to fire their coach, John Becker, arguably the most successful coach the conference has seen this past decade. The link below details the transgressions of the basketball program which I do think it's important to share in the context of their NCAA appearance. Their official twitter account is still locked for the above reasons."

My boss is a Vermont grad and is connected to their athletic department. I’ll have to ask if there’s any validity to this tomorrow. That seems like something that would be all over the place and not just social media rumors.

Vermont is a beautiful state. State has a lot of liberals though at least in Burlington, where UVM campus is. Basketball is their only sport. Maybe hockey.

Yes. Beautiful state. A lot of it is still untouched.
We were there for our honeymoon in 2004 and went back in 2019.
Burlington is a fun town.

Just because of the region it is in with some of the smaller states. If I have it would have been just passing through. Been in all the states around it for sure—Maine would be my favorite in that region.

Arkansas got a terrible draw. If we make it to the sweet Sixteen we likely play Gonzaga and then Duke if we can get past the zags.
