The OP only makes it sound like Franklin may have raped someone with the thread title.

No, it doesn't. "Coverup" is plainly in the title of the thread.

It's always been a joke among college coaches: If you want to know how good of a recruiter a coach is, look at his wife.

It's funny and probably has a hint of truth to it. But announcing it on the radio is probably not a good idea.

Would you know definitively without clicking the thread?

I read cover up and fully expected to read something about Franklin covering something up for his players. Just as the title reads. Look, I don't disagree with your stance of this article not being credible possibly. However, as to your comment about the title I disagree with you. No way did I think he was claiming Franklin was involved with the actual raping. That was a stretch on your part imo.

Perhaps, but I initially read it as the university covering up Franklin indescretions before clicking the thread.

Horrible crime and I feel terrible for the victim. It seems clear that the four players did it, of course we have the justice system to investigate that more fully.

There isn't anything against Franklin except one unnamed "source" saying he saw the video, so I will completely reserve judgment on him until more info comes out, but so far it looks like a terrible thing that four stupid assholes did and not something that goes further up the ladder.

These allegations would sink Franklin and Vandy if true

As it should.

Gonna be a huge problem for Vandy. When you're in the top 90% of the football world, the media and everybody in the other 10% will be looking to take you down. Vandy will just be the latest casualty of our societal desire to knock a member of the top 90% off their pegs.

It's not going to be a huge problem. Vandy's administration quickly sent this to the Metro PD as soon as it was uncovered to avoid any implied impropriety from Vandy's police force carrying out the investigation. There is no cover-up. And the article's implication that Vandy is covering up matters because the documents are under seal is ridiculous. Cases like this are under seal all the time to protect the privacy of the victim. The article never states that Vandy pursued this. They just assume Vandy does based on the fact that it is under seal. Horrible reporting.

Actually, the same paragraph you're referring to takes great pains to quote a prosecution source referencing the Duke case. i.e. implying that the documents are kept sealed to prevent false information from being bandied about and prevent a miscarriage of justice. There's no implication of a cover-up there. Quite the opposite. And it doesn't even really imply university officials are involved in the seal. It just says they're keeping details under wraps, and goes on to talk specifically about the prosecution.

lol, I hope people aren't ready to believe that Franklin did something when you have one guy just throwing his name out there. Wow, if you are, you're gullible as shite.

What an a-hole Franklin is:
quote:
Franklin’s self-described “extreme personality” is the marvel of players and fans alike. His voluble nature has also garnered unwanted headlines. During a radio interview last June, he said that he doesn’t hire an assistant coach until he sees his wife. “If she looks the part, and she’s a D-1 recruit, then you got a chance to get hired. That’s part of the deal.”

Not unheard of. An uncultured/ill-mannered spouse can and does sour hiring opportunities for some. I've heard it happening on several occasions with university departments screening potential professors. I'm sure it happens in the business world as well.
