Vandy is red hot right now.
Are you sure Texas is ready for them?
Remember they own the overall record against Texas.
Vandy used to be a powerhouse if you go back and read their history.

I know this a football board but one of the best baseball stories I've heard...as told by Mark Grace

One day Rick ((Sutcliffe) gave up back-to-back home runs in Cincinnati. And in Cincinnati, they shoot off fireworks after a Red hits a home run. And Sutcliffe was pretty intense on the day he pitched. So Eric Davis takes him deep, and Paul O'Neill takes him deep right after that. So Sutcliffe is all mad, and [pitching coach] Billy Connors comes out to the mound, and Sutcliffe yells at him "I know I gave up back-to-back home runs, but get your arse back in the dugout and tell [manager Don] Zimmer to settle down too!" Billy looks at him and says, "I know you have everything under control, Rick. I just wanted to give that guy running the fireworks a little more time to reload."

You have absolutely no clue about SEC history. Admittedly, they didn't shoot fireworks back then, but Vandy was the big boy in the SEC.

Nathan W. Dougherty hired Robert R. Neyland with one directive. "Beat Vanderbilt!"

Vandy is now a worry on our schedule. Those SEC away games are tough.

Is the rest of the SEC ready for Texas?
Remember, they own the overall record against almost every team. ;)

I am no historian; however, shouldn't the former "big boy in the SEC" have an SEC title in football? This is not to impugn their membership in the SEC now or historically (there are other things beyond football), but their profile (small enrollment private) is more similar with ACC schools where historically they have had more success.

We are undefeated against you guys. We have won every game against Texas.

When I said "in the SEC", I should have said was the SEC member who was the big boy before there even was an SEC.

You have to remember things were different then. Sewanee was an absolute beast in those days.

Happy for them. But Vandy’s admin will find a way to ruin this. They hate sports.

And I’m glad Ole Miss isn’t playing them this year.

CONGRATS! You're one of 2 teams out of 15 others

So again I ask: is the rest of the SEC ready for Texas? Nobody has a problem with the Tennessee fan asking the inverse of that question, but y’all sure have your pantries in a twist when I ask the same type of question myself

Interestingly enough, this is the first admin that doesn't hate sports and actually wants the teams to succeed...and all of a sudden they look competitive.

I got this second hand, so for what it's worth;

The new chancellor is from the business world and supposedly made a statement along the lines of, "like it or not, the sports teams are the face of a university".
