Vanderbilt dissapointing

I have just been baffled by Vanderbilt this year. They came into the season, played a respectable game against a tough opponent in Ole Miss. Vanderbilt might have won without the Jeff Scott touchdown run. After that they have tanked and a team that seemed to be somewhat of a contender in the East has become a mediocre 4-4

They might still make a bowl which will be three straight for Franklin

Yeah,what's up with that?
Oh wait, they plunked us...never mind.

They blew their load against Ole Miss.

I would like to hear what a Vandy fan has to say about this, but we know that will never happen

I think we took the wind out of their sails a little. That and the off the field issues have taken a large toll.

if anyone took the wind out of them it was mizzou. we completely manhandled them

They'll still go to a bowl. They've got Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky and Wake Forest left. They, realistically, can go 4-0. Vanderbilt's four losses are to: Ole Miss (who beat LSU), South Carolina, Missouri (much, much improved this year and most likely the SEC East Champion), and Texas A&M (no shame). Those are all four good teams.
Whenever Vanderbilt goes to a bowl and beats Georgia (who, once again, beat LSU) in the same year (possible Florida and Tennessee), it's a successful season.

Especially after that rape scandal

Vanderbilt was the product of an easy 2012 schedule as much as Franklin's coaching. Their schedule is harder so of course their record is worse.

They'll beat Kentucky and WF. I give them at least a 50% chance of beating at least one of Florida or Tenn.
Both Vandy and Ole Miss understood how important that first game was to our seasons.

My bad - meant to put that for Mizzou.

Outside of choking away the Ole Miss game, the other 3 losses came against pretty good teams, USCe, Mizzou, & TAMU. Vandy has had a problem with mobile qb's the past few years (who doesn't though), and all of those losses fall into that category. The defense has had a few key injuries, we've lost our starting qb and a backup, and we had our #2 WR and the #1 JUCO TE get dismissed from the team due to the rape case (no, not the one where we beat UT 41-18 last year). Most SEC schools would have a hard time handling those blows, but Vandy is working with less than all of the other schools due to historically bad recruiting. Here is Vandy's recruiting rank from Rivals since 2002: 74, 78, 132, 87, 62, 67, 90, 71, 61, 70, 29, 19, 21. I've bolded Franklin's recruiting class, and the #70 was where he only had 2 months to work with b/w getting hired and signing day.
As far as I'm concerned, I think its tremendous progress for Vandy to continue making a bowl each year. In a few years, when we have all Top 30 classes, hopefully Vandy can make the next jump and compete at a higher level. Until then, we'll just roll with the punches and hope we get a few breaks here and there.

2 of the teams we've lost to this year, we beat last year, so your logic leaves something to be desired. We played a pretty standard SEC schedule last year.. yea Furman was a joke but we annihilated UK and UT and beat ole Miss and Missouri, not to mention whipped NC State's arse in a bowl. I'm sorry the 85 Bears weren't around for us to play.

You go to Vanderbilt REG? My neighbors (when I was at LSU) were Vanderbilt alums. I lived close to the Perkins overpass area...would be a small world if true.

Vanderbilt's losses are to 4 legit top 20 teams and they managed to upset UGA. I still think they are playing above their talent level. They have to have a healthy Carta-Samuels though to beat UF and UT.
