Anytime anyone ranks these jokers first, I immediately ask if they saw the team play or if they're just going by the amount of first rounders, pro bowlers, and hall of famers they produced in the NFL? Because that latter shite does not matter. What matters is what they did in college. And while they were indeed a dominant team, they had some close games against inferior competition (Boston College and Virginia Tech specifically) and didn't even play the second best team in the country in the national title. Nebraska did not belong in that game. That isn't hindsight either. The vast majority of sports pundits believed Nebraska had no business being in that game after getting blown away by Colorado in the final regular season game and not even making it to the Big 12 Championship Game. And I mean BLOWN AWAY. They lost that game 62-36.

Lollll at 2021 UGA ahead of 2005 Texas.

Those rankings make no sense. 2005 USC was better than USC 2004 who they have ranked 5th. That Texas team went undefeated and beat a better USC team than the one they have ranked higher.

No. Both had top 5 offenses in their respective seasons.

Did they? The rankings I see have 2021 UGA #26 in total offense at 442/game. #9 in scoring offense.

UF was #15 in total offense and #4 in scoring offense in 2008.

Yeah that happens to a lot of great championship teams, unless you're 1995 Nebraska.

Welcome to college football fandom, hope you enjoy it.

USA Today has always been a joke, but they are not even at that level now. The People Magazine of journalism.

Advanced stats remove the garbage time that holds uga overall basic stats down.

2008 Florida would beat every team ahead of them not named 2020 Bama.

Or 2008 Ole Miss, though I didn't see them on the list.

Recency bias
Statistics don't care when they were accrued. Djs said that both offenses were ranked statistically in the top 5 in the nation in their respective years.

08 UF would be favored by at least 5+ vs 21 UGA

So he gives you cold hard stats and you counter with a biased opinion?

True. However, a truly great championship team cements their legacy against a worthy opponent in a championship game. Hence, the second part of my post: they played BCS #2 (but AP #4) Nebraska in the Rose Bowl for the national championship. And anyone who was paying attention back in December 2001 knew that Nebraska shouldn't be in that game against Miami.

Way overrated.

Beat 7-6 Tennessee by a blocked FG 12-10.
Beat 8-5 Auburn 26-21 at the end of the game.

That team was a weak champion.

In those days that often happened. A team can only control the games they've been handed.

2001 Miami handled there's pretty easily. Even their close game was 26-10 in the 4th before a ranked VT mounted a late comeback.

It happens. 2008 UF was a monster team, lost to Ole Miss.

2021 should be just above 2009 Alabama but otherwise it is close enough for me.

My post was just poking fun at bama fans (mainly one poster) who would keep remaking the same thread over and over with a ranking of national champs from ESPN + writer Brian Connely and treating it like it was the list. Even to the point of asking other posters who argued against it how they could question the ESPN expert

2005 Texas is hilariously low.
