I think the statement that Kyle will be the greatest stadium for the next generation is overblown for sure but it will be an incredible college stadium.

Jerryworld is the best stadium in sports overall but it isn't a good college venue. It's a glitzy showplace that isn't terribly loud and is really designed for "whales". It's about as luxurious and comfortable as a football stadium could possibly be though.

DKR is a really nice stadium in terms of comforts but the atmosphere sucks arse. It's quiet as a church. They also have an insane amount of advertising everywhere. The jumbotron alone has 10 different ads posted on it simultaneously with the screen in the middle. It would be ok as an NFL stadium though and Texas is basically the pro team of Austin.

Current Kyle has a great atmosphere from most seats but it has ridiculously outdated infrastructure (the East and West 1st Decks are 90 years old and all the infrastructure has to come through them for those sides of the stadium). The sightlines for visitors are horrible and away from the game. It's just got a ton of problems that happen when you just keep adding on to a stadium without a true master plan.

New Kyle fixes all that though and enhances the natural advantages. A&M has the largest student section in the country at 31k and they occupy the entire 2nd and 3rd decks of the East side. The rest will be on the 1st Deck and around the EZ where opponents enter going forward. The amount of creature comforts will be increased many fold and the bat problem will be fixed permanently. It's basically going to be a huge mecca to college football with enough students in prime seating to keep it loud as hell while still having the rest of the stadium vary from comfortable with good sight lines to downright luxurious depending on your budget.

To me though that is just what is required in the SEC. Bama already has a palace. LSU has the best overall environment now and is expanding and renovating. UT has a monster stadium. UGA is over 90k and has a tremendous environment. UF is under 90k but they print money. 80k plus stadiums with loud environments and great atmospheres are the norm for everyone else.

It's just another arms race like facilities. The only edge A&M has is we are the largest and richest school in the biggest state and located an hour from the 4th largest metro in the US and are the closest major program to that metro. That means we should be able to sell out and keep up without much trouble from here on out. That's just life in the SEC though, you can never stay ahead of everyone else for too long since everyone is irrationally exuberant about our football.

Damn I love the SEC.

But, bat shite stadium is a top 5, even in its bat shitty condition. Imagine what it will be like with the renovations. That's all we're chest thumping about.

Y'all don't have a monopoly on bat shite either. We could make it rain if we wanted to.

Meh, for now I'd replace A&M with AU. They are consistently underrated as a venue.

Once A&M is done with their renos, then maybe they'll have a place in the top 5.

(Bryant Denny) the targeting hit at the Ole Miss game riled up the crowd to a frenzy and it was Death Valley level from then on when Freeze kept going for it on 4th down. Keep in mind, that's not a common occurrence.

BDS has a great design for trapping sound, it just doesn't have very loud fans. A&M actually incorporated a lot of the elements of BDS in the design of the New Kyle, including putting an overhang over the East Deck above the students even though it will provide virtually no shade due to the angle of the sun.

I am already predicting that the LSU game next year with 109k and the East and South decks done is going to be insanely loud.

When I went to Neyland a couple years ago, the Tennessee fans were so quiet that LSU's fans drowned them out during Tennessee's pregame. What a joke. Nicest, classiest fans in the SEC, just not loud.

If you were at the game on Saturday you would have a different opinion. Ask any uga fan that was there.

Will the improvements make it look less like a tackle box?

Amazing to think that in less than 2 years, Kyle Field will be the undisputed best stadium in the land.

Is it frustrating to write this knowing that it's completely untrue?

Very steep. Steepest stadium I've ever been in. I have "bad" seats in the upper deck. But the view is perfect, even with people standing in front of me I could stay seated and still see the field clearly. You almost feel like you are watching the game from directly above.

Yeah, I remember being on the next to last row of the lower bowl in one endzone and surprisingly being able to easily see and even discern faces of the people in the opposite endzone. It was weird. It definitely helps funnel the noise

When Kyle field wants to hear noise, they can visit the Swamp or Tiger Stadium. That's noise.

I was honestly not that impressed with the noise level at the swamp when we visited a few years back. I've heard BDS get much louder on a consistent basis than anything I heard that night. And considering Florida was looking for payback for the anal raping we gave y'all in Tuscaloosa the year before, not to mention the tebow crying incident, I expected it to be rather rowdy.

It was disappointing to say the least.

Regardless how much you spend on your stadium, you should budget in for a little more eye shadow and lip stick for those God forsaken ugly cheerleaders you have.

It will be nice when he leaves...make no mistake, the Ags will crawl back in their holes as their team will be a perennial 7-5.

Just curious, but how old are you?

I'm not ancient--by any stretch of the imagination--and we were undefeated at Kyle my entire time as an undergraduate. And we only lost a handful of away games during that time.

Our team, AD, and fans are not satisfied with a 7-5 "Francione" record.

Final 2013 AP rankings:
5th Texas A&M 11-2
14th LSU 10-3

That just pisses off every LSU fan that we ranked higher and went to a better bowl game.

Quit reading when it said stadiums were overcrowded. Anyone who watched the embarassing crowd at the Auburn game would that is complete bullshite. I'd say LSU is the best when the opponent is of equal talent. Aside from that, it is no different than the typical college stadium on game night. As far as fan support, I'd definitely put Nebraska, Michigan, and Bama ahead of LSU.
