I predict early mediocrity, with flashes of good/great, then a train wreck.

I agree. The NFL requires more scheming and gritty gameday decisions. It's harder to win in the NFL - acquiring the right players and creating team chemistry is a lot harder when every team on your schedule has just as much talent as you do. Urban's offenses have always been simplistic - too simple for the NFL. If any position group on the team is weak you can't win. I believe there is much more pressure on NFL head coach's than in college. Urban has proven he can't handle pressure. When things get tough Urban gets sick and retires. I predict another Urban retirement within 3 years - probably sooner.

The news was all over the radio stations this afternoon... supposedly even landed here at Cecil Field for the drive downtown.

I just hope they’re smart enough to keep The Mustache for the backup.

As a Alabama and Jaguars fan watching Erb in college... I can’t disagree with ya.

This will be very interesting to watch. On the one hand, he’s been a success everywhere he’s gone. On the other hand, he’s never stayed in one place very long, and his preferred style of offense doesn’t seem suited to the NFL.

The margin for error is larger in the NFL. If he can go 10-6 every year he will be considered elite. Surely he is better than some of the goofballs they keep recycling.

He'll be taking calls about the Michigan opening by October

I mean how much of the daily grind recruiting do the big dog coaches even partake in?

Uhm, a lot.

They hire millions of dollars worth of analysts, take trips and watch tape. Outside of that, it's all the coordination, saying the right thing, taking the right angle with a lot of recruits. They don't just talk to the guys they sign, they're constantly talking all day every day with their staff and even recruits who they really want.

I would fricking hate to be a college recruiter.
