1) UT's 1938 title is actually considered a consensus title. It's listed in the ESPN College football encyclopedia as such. Sports Illustrated also recognizes. Those two outlets only recognize consensus titles. Before 1950 and the creation of the UPI, neither AP nor UPI were considered the "official" consensus selectors. Tennessee's 1939 yearbook actually talks about the football team winning the national championship.
UT won every poll that existed that year other than the AP....which wouldn't become "consensus" until years later.
2) to the person that said LSU would have 8 if they counted all of them: UT doesn't count all of them and could have as many as 14 if they used the same metric that would give LSU 8.
3) Tennessee had one of the most dominant periods in college football history. They had six undefeated seasons n 11 years of football under Neyland. They also shutout an NCAA record 17 straight opponents and are the last program to not be scored upon for a whole season. Not to mention second in the SEC in wins, bowls, bowl wins, SEC titles, etc
4) Basketball is about the same as LSU historically and women's basketball is more of a major sport than baseball is.....so yeah.

no one said people watched it. I guarantee you that once the baseball tournament is started more people watch that.

You do realize that Women's basketball gets double the ratings college baseball does?
Baseball's highest rating for a game was 2.1. Women's bball was 3.9.

If you are referring to 1938 with the above statement, which TCU got the AP poll that year, no UT didn't get every poll other than the AP...

as you can see both teams got the nod from the same polls in some cases and also before the bowl game, which the NC was determined before the bowls back then, Duke and Oklahoma were undefeated as well at the end of the season...
and I am the guy that posted the 8 LSU could have...well in fact I left 2 out...it could be as many as 10...10, 14, it becomes a wash...whatever...
Here's the link if you would like to do some research on the subject...

How is basketball at UT "about the same" as it is at LSU when the Vols just got to the Elite 8 for the very first time?
College baseball could be get higher ratings if it were shoved down our throats for a full season at a time, like Womens Basketball is. ESPN got the 2.1 rating for baseball without showing much regular season baseball at all. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

Id like to have had Kentucky and Vanderbilt as my permanant, end of the year football rivals for the 77 years of SEC competition. That might have made our win/loss records even closer. UT has to be something like 120-30-4 against those two teams over the years.

Solid troll by the OP. I give it a B+, only because he didn't research anything. UT fans look as retarded as some Arkansas fans that post in HDN threads with the way they bit on this one.
And this:
is unAmerican.

Tennessee's football program > LSU's football program
Now that this has been proven and we all agree, we can move on

LSU... first school in the SEC to have 10 Titles in Football, Basketball, Baseball. The track programs speak for themselves. LSU takes a back seat in the major sports to no one in the SEC. FACT.

Nice freakin stat! 10th football title was won over UT with a back up QB.

I know, I was there. Also there in '07 for the SEC Title victory over the Vols. In Knoxville in '06 when Russell dropped the dime on them with 14 seconds left. The last decade has been SWEET !
