Do you know what averaging is? It would be interesting to see the median salary of Texas A&M graduates. There is a good chance the inflated salaries of the petroleum industry skew the "averaging" of the Aggie salaries.

Averages are easily impacted by a bunch of high outliers (say, petroleum engineers).

I'd be more interested in a median.

Let me know if you have questions

Everyone has a college degree today it separates no one. People with MBA's are begging for mid-level jobs right now and they have a debt to pay also.

"Here is your college degree" from said university.. "Now frick off we have money to make off the next kid." That is real life.

Speaking of a chip on your shoulder.

Acting like school rankings are worthless and only name based is laughable. I'm very aware that a Harvard grad is ON AVERAGE more prepared to enter my field than I am.

The fact that you adhere to such black and white views of work ethic is sad. If you can't differentiate better than that, you won't be as succssful as you could be letting go of that notion. That's real life.

Sigh..

College education < Work experience. They are not one in the same.

Don't take my word for any of this because you'll see soon enough.

So you're suggesting that we have a bunch of all-star grads outperforming the market by leaps and bounds while the large majority are underperforming. Link?

I am an Alabama grad. 29 years old. Making $120k a year. Honest.

I think I just heard Alabama's school ranking jump up 10 spots.

Thank you for rebutting my arguments. Oh wait, you didn't.

Shitty arguments, doesn't understand the difference between expensive college and highly ranked college, doesn't understand what an average is, let me guess: Fighting Texas Aggie grad student??

Alabama has been a Top 50 public university for about 5-6 years. It continues to see its overall ranking rise each year. Regardless, Arkansas improving its image will only help the SEC. The Big Ten and Pac-12 snobs will soon have to find other talking points to look down on the SEC.

There you go and you didn't go to MIT, Berkeley much less Yale.

Who said it wasn't? Again you're looking at things in black and white.

Stop talking down to everyone else in this thread like they don't have any work experience. If you have to tell everyone about how experienced you are for them to know it, that's a problem.

What's with all the hate in this thread?

It's great to see SEC schools striving to make academic improvements.

No I am suggesting that lumping in a bunch of petroleum/nuclear engineers with the liberal arts kids and saying "all Aggies earn ___" is not a very accurate statement.

Grow thicker skin because you'll need it.

it's coming from those with A&M logos. Can't be happy for other schools trying to improve academics and instead resort to flaming, you know, like highly educated academics do.

I'd fall back to weak personal attacks too if I was getting my arguments destroyed so badly. I explained to you very clearly what would have to happen for the average to deviate so far from the median, you're just choosing to ignore the point.

Still waiting to hear why you started a thread touting Arkansas's upcoming public university ranking only to turn around and bash public university rankings.

This was my point in this thread. We are generally supposed to cheer for each other unless playing each other. We're helping out the SEC's rep

Link?

I said we are going to improve our ranking.

I said expensive college degrees are not better just because they cost more.

Which point to you disagree with?

You respond to someone posting average A&M grad starting and mid career salaries with:

quote:

I love how Aggie always brings up the salaries, as if every A&M grad is a petroleum engineer with 20 years of experience

So no, you weren't suggesting that.
