You mean the “confederate greys” ? I’m sure that’s your sjw university not just Lane.

Our gray pant with the adjacent red/navy stripe is classic Ole Miss. Lane better not be ridding ourselves of that gray that has been worn since the Vaught days.

Georgia wears gray. Ohio State wears gray. We can as well.

I hope to see this uniform LINK

tRant needs to get their narrative straight. So are we a SJW university not properly honoring our confederate past or are we a racist university that Georgia fans and many others here disparage Otis Reese for transferring to?

Thank goodness, our real helmets. I'm really tired of the powder blue fad.

Not sure how the Ole Miss fan base feels about it, but I hate when new coaches come in and start screwing with classic uniforms. Butch did that bullshite with Tennessee and I couldn't stand it. The Ole Miss gray pants are classic. But if they're going to wear white pants, at least wear the ones they did a year or two ago that had stripes down the leg. The all-white pants look like high school practice pants.

So many fashionistas on this board

It looks fine but I don’t know how I feel about changing a classic uniform. If Ole Miss fans are cool with it then great.

We started changing our uniforms 8 years ago in 2012 when Freeze took over.

Nearly a decade ago. Why is everyone all up in arms about this all of a sudden? This is old news.

IMO it is a SJW university in staunch hypocritical denial of its Confederate past so as to not to offend its traditionalist base and $$$ major donors. There will always be the UofM, which is separate and distinct from Ole Miss Athletics for that very reason.

How is the University in “staunch hypocritical denial of its Confederate past as to not offend its traditionalist base and major donors” when it has in spite of that made many changes to the contrary? Furthermore many of these very changes have been made to athletic traditions. Also I do appreciate your honest response.

We’ve been wearing white pants for a while. Here’s a pic from 7 years ago when Ole Miss played Texas away in 2013.

I'm aware. He, too, came from a G5 school and was trying to generate pub with new recruits. Then, you hired an "Ole Miss guy" and he went back to a more traditional concept. I think y'all did the white pant/helmet thing once in your game in Houston but can't recall any other alternate concepts while Luke was there. I just hope I see the traditional red jersey, grey pants when y'all come to Baton Rouge later this fall.

Yeah, and it worked.

Yeah, and nobody gave a shite what we were wearing because we were losing.

You probably won’t and it’s weird that you care.

Also I do appreciate your honest response.

The divide between the Admin focus and direction and the base that wants to cling to traditions that the Admin openly finds "racist" and backwards is incredible.

They have no identity because they want to hide/eliminate their traditions and heritage, but they cannot because of the effect it would have on booster and donor support.

The University Grays are a perfect example. It is the highlight of paragraph one of the University history section in the annual academic catalog and a huge stained glass tribute remains to them in Ventress Hall (College of Liberal Arts), yet a former Military Arts and Sciences Dept Head was reprimanded for continuing a program tradition of shirts with the Univeristy Grays reference. That thread carries over to a variety of topics on campus. They balance retaining their history with adding SJW markers all over campus to appease both audiences.

The removal or phasing out of confederate gray was a continual theme when I worked there between UM leadership and the Ole Miss AD. But, the need to appease both audiences stagnated the process. With BLM, I have to believe one side is taking advantage of the situation to advance agendas over the other. That is why I think gray pants may be jeopardy.

It is a matter of time before the Rebels and Rebelletes go the way of Dixie, Confederate Flags and Col Reb at ballgames. The UM Human Beings are a real goal of many in the UM Admin.

Well said sir. You nailed it succinctly. I do wish we could move away from the labels of SJW and Traditionalists but hell it is what it is. I see what folks mean when they say they don’t feel welcome with the confederate imagery but I also see the humanistic value of honoring the protection of your home and the bravery of those men that did not have the benefit of our modern ideals or hell even news about what the hell was going on then. Also if you are military, thank you so very much for your service. Also I am not the one downvoting you.

agreed again Context matters when assessing the values, ideals and actions of an era

I'm an academic by trade these days, but I have a history of jumping from planes, carrying more weight on my back than I had within my skin, and going to a variety of places worldwide in defense of God and country.

Two things: 1. I held the flashlight for my dad when I was a kid, so I have a tough enough skin. 2. I am extraordinarily reflective in thought and have even down voted my own drivel from time to time. Either way, no worries

I’m an academic that loves God and Country and is staunchly in favor of supporting our military and first responders and anyone that can get PTSD from doing their job that is too intense for many of us to do. I appreciate it immensely. One time I showed my brother in law’s brother taking the oath with his in flight nav showing while flying a fighter to accept being promoted to Colonel. The response from my class was overwhelming pride, respect and awe. Everyone should see these things but so many of us do not. These things make you proud to be an American and appreciate what you all do. Thank you for looking out for our sons and daughters while in hostile situations to make sure your friends and our loved ones come home.
