The good news is that this increases the likelihood of a new formula next season. Sankey will have plenty of ammunition.

This assumes the P4 conference leadership all have a common goal of putting the best 12 teams in. But they don’t. The SEC is the only league that wants that. The other 3 are enjoying watching us beat each other up in a system that incentivizes avoiding competition. 8 of our 16 schools have won national titles in the last 30 years and our teams own 18 of the last 30. Why would the B10, ACC, or B12 want to make any changes to a system that only gave us 3 of the 12 bids?

Sankey had leverage back when the others wanted to expand to 12 to give the weaker leagues a chance. He had to sign off on it and could dictate the terms since we were doing just fine with 4. Now our only leverage is withdrawing from the whole thing, which isn’t much of a real option.

Any major changes will either require B10 cooperation or a willingness to blow up the entire thing and go back to the AP poll awarding champs. But with NIL we need the playoff money as much as anyone. Oregon getting beat early with their unfair bracket might be the only thing that brings the B10 to the table.

What am I melting about exactly?

Let me guess, it's just what you say when you aren't actually capable of joining the conversation on a meaningful level.

6-8 teams at the most have even half a shot at winning the ship. 12 teams is too many

I think you’re going to be right in most years. But I guarantee you we’ll see 10th or 11th seed with 2 tough losses win a ship. Which is what makes sports great.

I don’t like beauty contests. I like watching teams play it out on the field. And pretty much everyone likes watching upsets.

We have some teams that shouldn’t be in this year but again I think this gets fixed.

Unless you play a uga 2024 schedule, and that’s still pushing it, 9-3 just isn’t worthy
Just goes to show how clueless you are.

In 2022 who gets in? 3 loss Utah, 3 loss Kansas State? Both?

2019 9-3 Auburn is in

2018, 9-3 LSU, 9-3 Florida?

You might want to check history to find out more years a 3 loss team would be in on this format than not.

None of them were worthy either. Why do you think they were?

He'll just use it to blow another hole in his own foot.

You should check the rankings in those years.

They have been in, even with this format.

What seems to continue getting lost here, is two teams lower ranked than Bama in the playoff ranking are both in the playoff.

Their rankings are irrelevant to my point

True, if you want to say this year (like last) the number should be 6, I would agree.

You mean like Indiana, SMU and Clemson?

False, all that matters is having less losses

Bama or South Carolina.

SMU definitely did not belong. Ped St is an above average team.
