Has Richt lost control of the student body?

LINK

Georgia students left empty 39% of their designated sections of Sanford Stadium over the last four seasons, according to school records of student-ticket scans. Despite their allocation of about 18,000 seats, the number of students at games between 2009 and 2012 never exceeded 15,000.

Winning isn't even necessarily a solution. The average student crowd to see last year's Georgia team—which finished the season ranked No. 5—was almost 6,000 short of maximum capacity.

Even at Alabama, 32% of student seats went unused by students between 2009 and 2012, when the Crimson Tide won three national championships. Alabama coach Nick Saban wrote a flattering letter last week in the student paper to recruit students back.

If you want the students to show up, quit scheduling games like Georgia State.

Sabin had the rest of the student body sneaking into other schools to place weed and tip cops off on players breaking the law.

wow 3 championships and 32% of student seats unused.

This is why sidewalk fans are the backbone of SEC football programs. They're some of the most passionate fans around and they fill up the stadium.

The problem is the stupid fricking electronic ticket system.

Go back to regular paper tickets so if you can't go to the game you can just give/sell it to someone else. Problem solved.

The tailgating has become so good on most SEC campuses that if it's a non conference game then, "it's mostly about the partying" since it's a for sure win.

For me, I look at it like a non conference game just means cheaper tickets. I could see how if I was on campus everyday how a non conference game would maybe be a game to skip and party at the Houndstooth, Innisbrook, or the friends house though.

look at our home schedule for the past few years. it's fricking terrible. 2 south carolina games have been legit, but that is absolutely it. our downtown and bar scene are so damn awesome that people dont go to the shitty games against north texas and FAU. oh well, ill take that trade off any day.

When I went to UT I watched most of the big games and went to home games from time to time. I still loved football but I was too busy doing other stuff at that age such as socializing, getting drunk, getting laid, etc.

Now that I'm in my 30's I watch every frickin snap.
