Didn’t they say the same when he went to the NFL? The man averaged 30 ppg with fricking Buttfumble as his QB. I think he can deal with SEC front 7s after scheming against NFL teams.

As a UGA fan, I’d rather face Kelly than Frost the next 5 years. Frost is going to be a superstar, so I don’t want him anywhere near the SEC

I’m sure he can, but be aware you’re dealing with a different pool of players in the NFL. He isn’t goig to change his offensive philosophy to get a bunch of big powerful OL. While the talent level will be better and the size difference will be more favorable, i imagine he will still have relatively smaller OLs compared to his weekly conference opponents.

But, he’s also an offensive genius so I’m sure they’ll be fine.

Are you really this idiotic?

Darron Thomas was the QB for the 9/3/2011 game between LSU and Oregon and he was not a freshman (he had played some in 2008 and looks like the he the starter in 2010). BTW, he was a 4 star prospect in 2008.

If you don't know what you're talking about, don't post. It's easy to correct your errors if you spend 10 seconds looking before posting false information.

Ringer article
Here is an article on Chip Kelly's offenses and how they became predictable. I wonder if he's changed it during his time off.

Kelly will need a legitimate threat to run at QB (not a runner but someone who can run) and maybe figure out a better way to disguise his plays:
quote:

“We knew what plays were coming,” Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner said after the game. “Their offense is kind of predictable. They have a lot of plays where they can only run one way.”

This wasn’t an isolated incident. After losing to the Cowboys early in the 2015 season — a game in which the Eagles managed only 7 rushing yards — Eagles receiver Josh Huff said Dallas’s players were calling out Kelly’s plays before the snap. Another example came in Week 1 of 2015, as the Atlanta Falcons repeatedly checked into defenses designed to stop whichever play Kelly called. Whenever he called an inside zone — again, with the running back and tight end aligned to the same side — the Falcons, in turn, checked to a defensive stunt designed to blow up that specific play.

It's going to be interesting if he's fired up and will experiment some more as he did in 2013 with the Eagles or if we'll see the same stuff from his later Eagles teams or the 49ers.

Lots of chatter about terms now. No "done deal", just that terms are worked out.

Just to play Devil's Advocate: the Pac12 team that held their own with Oregon during the Kelly Era was Stanford. Stanford did it by being bigger, stronger, and more physical than the Ducks.

If Chip's team is going to struggle with more physical teams, the SEC may not be the right fit. Just saying

He got the position wrong. The fumbles he was referring to were by De’Anthony Thomas, who was the 3rd string true freshman RB in his first game. LaMichael James and Kenjon Barner both went down with injuries when it was a 3 pt game at the half and Thomas came in and started fumbling all over the place

He went 2-2 against Stanford. One loss was in his first season (Harbaugh’s third at Stanford). His two wins were blowout victories and the other loss was by a field goal in overtime.

I understand the physicality criticism of Kelly’s offense but the Stanford thing is a bit of a reach.

Note those 2-1 wins were vs Andrew Luck as well and a Super bowl appearing head coach. Not exactly the normal Stanford.

I'll believe it when it's announced. If he does go there then congrats on doing the hiring process the correct way.

Kelly had been OC at Oregon prior to that. He wasn't brand new to Stanford.

All I said was the only team to hang with Kelly's team did it by being tougher and more physical. Pac12 physical, not SEC physical
