Look all other posters rag on Bama for claiming titles that are not UPI/AP. In 03 USC was the AP champ. The BCS may have ten more years left while the AP will always be here. Eventhough you backed into the game in 07 you did deserve to be there because your wins were the most impressive, but UGA was a better team. The best team doesn't always make to the big game hince USC only having one two titles this decade. In 06 you had the best team and didn't even make it two ATL, but everyone knows you would have butt raped UF in a rematch. UF 06 was barely a top 5 team. Everyone remembers the OSU game, but nobody remember all the ugly games they squeaked out.

07 UT was not the best team in the East and the entire world knows it. They were blown out multiple times by shitty teams. Cal blew them out first, Then the Tebows won by like 59-20, then they were blown out by a 7-6 Bama team 41-17. The same Bama team who lost ULM. Please don't try to play up that SEC championship like it was some great accomplishment. Then you got a home game against the whipping boy of the SEC in the superdome.

Lets try this angle: We all know LSU and Auburn finshed higher than Bama in the 1980s. Was that also because Bama was down?
Then it makes perfect sense that the only reason Bama was a factor in the 1990s was because LSU was down. Hell LSU has a level record with Alabama from 2008 going back to 1982.
LSU has been the better program for most of your entire life. Deal with it.

Dore, in 10 years the newspapers & the AP will both be history. The AP is already on it's last legs, AP reporters & office staff are already taking mandatory 2week furloughs....The AP is dying a slow death as we speak....

LSU was not better than Bama in the eighties. Auburn was yes. LSU no.

This is the pecking order when all is equal. When one program has mass confusion or an inferior coach lower programs can move up. This the reason for AUB/LSU rise this decade. In the 80s Aub had the best coach in the confrence hince the reason they were able to advance.

The logic is neither Bama not UF are currently experiencing those problems of bad coaching or scholarship loss so they will win their prospective divisions probably 5 out of 10 times.
The only way for the other programs to compensate is to hire really good coaches like AU did in the eighties. No one in the west has a really good coach except for Arky. They will pass AU or LSU in the pecking order, but it will not be enough to challenge Bama who has a better program and a equally impressive coach.

This pecking order thing you speak of, dude, thats all about the past. You are a classic example of the Bama fan who lives in the past, and thinks because Bama was on top of the football world 30 years ago that it somehow means something to today's kids. Bama, not so much. Saban has never won a title with any team not named LSU, and he always loses games he's supposed to win (ULM or Utah?). Yeah, I know, this year its going to be different.
