Speaking of which, if Bama was so insecure about UAB having a football team, WHY THE frick DID THEY ALLOW THE PROGRAM IN THE FIRST PLACE? God the logic some of these barners have to go through is unreal. Its like talking to a 9/11 truther

They don't have the money. The bring in less than $3M a year in contributions. They bring in less than $1M a year in ticket sales. That is on level with 1AA programs and good D2 programs (I know, I look at their books).
They currently net to about $600K in net profit a year, and that is with no debt.
The ONLY way they would be able to build a new stadium is to
(a) jack up student fees (which would NEVER be approved)
(b) make the BOT take out $75M (at least with bond costs) in bonds and pray that the Athletic Dept could pay them back (which outside of a MASSIVE influx of new tickets and/or contributions they could not)
It's just a terrible plan.

I do not think AU is worried about AUM fielding a team.
But the GOAT program is, because of doctors or something
Bravo

Gene Bartow had a bigger dick than Steve Sloan at the time.

Water falls in GA, sits in GA lakes, but it doesnt belong to GA
That is exactly the way water is managed in the west. Whomever uses the water first gets to claim that water no matter where it resides or originates.
In Wyoming v Colorado the US Supreme Court said that Colorado couldn't use but a certain amount of water from a river because it would take away from what Wyoming had been getting and using in the past - which is exactly the crux of the AL/GA/FL water wars. Atlanta's growth is causing them to use water that was previously used by downstream states.
So, in a nutshell, according to the SCOTUS water that falls in Georgia and sits in Georgia lakes may well not belong to Georgia.
It isn't limited to just states, in some cases it sometimes gets down to the individual homeowner. In most parts of Colorado, the water that falls on your home's roof doesn't belong to you.

Yea anybody who thinks UAB has the money is ignorant, delusional, or just wrong.

It is all about money. Bama is not worried about the on the field product, but they know how many UAB alumni contribute to UA.

Yea, UA is terrified that they will lose massive donor support to UAB.
Also, who are all these magical UAB graduates who give massive sums of money to UA? When you say graudates I assume you meant undergraduates, right?

You have no basis to believe that. It also doesn't apply in common sense. People who like or dislike Bama aren't going to change their mind after a medical degree. You're just making shite up and not even thinking about it.

They can get money very quickly. They knew it would be shot down by the BOT. Ask Jimbo Fisher about UA BOT influence on UABs program.

This is the strangest thread I've seen in a long while. Maybe they think they are trolling? Literally only thing I can fathom.

Considering their fiscal issues over the last, well, forever, I find that hard to believe.

I know the argument behind it. I was just mocking the fact that the poster was claiming GA was stealing the water

So UAB alums only want to give money to their school if it's for a football stadium? I'd bet 75% of UAB alums have never even been to a game.

quote:WAIT... so the UAB big money alumni have been reducing their contributions by about $1.2mill to their alma matre in the past 8 yrs?
UAB Contributions over the years
2013 - $2,456,762
2012 - $2,995,783
2011 - $2,692,625
2010 - $3,061,128
2009 - $2,944,050
2008 - $3,440,756
2007 - $3,226,902
2006 - $3,660,487
And they have the audacity to expect the UA BOT to approve funding for a $70mm stadium?
Those numbers are just horrible in a state where football has been king for over half a decade.

Apparently Puppets thinks UAB Medical School alums feel an attachment to UAB Athletics.
All of my friends in undergrad who went to UAB Medical would disagree, but apparently if UAB started a Stadium Campaign they would all magically stop being UA donors and become UAB donors.

So do you think they cant change or build a program, going forward?

Both, they support UA Athletic program over the years. Chech the difference in enrollment at UAB vs UA the last 30 years.
