My understanding was that while she had been physically in this realm...she has been gone mentally for a while. I think she was in a full time care situation for a number of years.
I'll check out the link.

Yeah, that's true. I have another friend whose mom had early onset Alzheimer's and her dad divorced her mom so he could remarry. He still went and visited her a lot, and he took care of her, but she didn't recognize him. I have absolutely no judgment about that whatsoever, and i can't imagine how hard it would be to stay married to someome who really isn't there, but I always thought it was sweet that he didn't choose that option.

No doubt. They don't make guys like Coach Moore anymore.

No. That is ancillary in regard to his reputation. CLC was, and is, a big fricking deal.
I understand what you're saying and in the business world. you're right. I should have probably said 'most fans know him as Tennesse's coach in the 70s' because as has already been said in this thread most folks don't pay a lick of attention to the little 'officially licensed' logo.
He got the job because of what he's done after UT, but prior to yesterday if you had pulled almost any fan off the street and ask them 'who is Bill Battle?', the overwhelming answer would have been "that guy that won a lot of games at Tennessee in the 1970s but got fired because he couldn't be Alabama."
Oh, and I haven't said it but I think this was a home run hire.

Here's a good article on Coach Moore and his wife Charlotte. She developed Alzheimer’s in the early 90's and Coach Moore quit coaching to take care of her. She passed away shortly after the 2010 BCS game.
Coach Moore Cares
Coach Moore has been helping in a campaign to build a new facility for Caring Days Adult Day Care, to help other families dealing with a memory disorder.

We will never know if Bama doesn't give him a chance.

Jacobs would start a search committee comprised of top men. They would hold an exhaustive nation wide search for the nose best fit for the job. He would then hire a guy from the Opelika Express Oil Change to do the sniffing.

71 years old. Not a fan at all. Any coach he is trying to hire will know that the AD who hires him probably won't be there 4 or 5 years later.

It's gonna be great with Saban as AD. He suggested Houston Nutt when he left Louisiana State.

Bill Battle is not meant to be long term. Just hold the position until Ozzie Newsome wants to come home.
