So why did Austin Mack, a sophomore, replace Simpson against Indiana?

Because he was an experience RS Soph with three years in DeBoers offense who was QB2?

He or Mack probably would've been if Ty was coming back, but he sure as hell isn't going in the portal now.

Why would he leave with a shot to start and Bama sitting here with Ty's NIL money to allocate?

Itll be Mack vs KR to start and there is only one portal window now so they'll be on campus until next bowl season.

It’s Keelons team now. He’s a monster and I saw him many times in HS.

We haven't seen that many snaps for him so far whats your take on him?

All I can say for sure is he has one of the quickest releases I've ever seen in Tuscaloosa (im talking Tua/Drew Brees level) and appeared to be accurate in the short game.

He’s an early 2nd rounder at worst…

Healthy he was projected as a top 5 QB earlier this year.

He was bad down the stretch but he had a bad back, an elbow issue and apparently broke his ribs against IU. Not exactly a recipe for success at QB without a viable gun game.

Simpson proved he was a solid QB this year. HIs main problem was he played in an offense that was completely dysfunctional.

It's a smart move to get out of that broken offense.

The offense was FEI top 7 before he got hurt.

I won’t be surprised if this changes and Ty transfers.

Keelon Russell. Practice observers call him a bonafide dual threat

Ty will be at worst the 3rd qb off the board and a probable first rounder.
He was mocked in top 10 by everybody until ppl thought he was returning and took him out of mocks.

Projecting 3rd QB taken. It sounds ridiculous to most people, but this is a very weak draft. He will be drafted on his potential not on what he has done. He will probably be a career backup, but that’s not always such a bad thing.

Second round at worst most likely.

Ty is smart for declaring. This year is the absolute weakest QB class in modern memory and everyone is saying he could be the third QB taken in the NFL Draft - which means late first round at the very worst.

Bad back and elbow issue

Teams started playing two high safeties and cloud coverage at the later half of the year because of no threat of a running game. The passing game wasn't all that impressive to begin with either. Ryan Williams regressed.

Not surprising as he'd said that he would enter draft if his rating indicated he'd go first round. Wish him the best and appreciate his contributions to the team and playing hurt the second half of the season.

Ty Simpson entering the draft

I know you still have to register with the Selective Service System, but I don't think there is a current active draft.

That's what you mean right ? Surely not football ?

Russell was the number two overall player in the class last year in the Gatorade player of the year playing at the top school in the top classification of Texas. They played many private schools nationally so he has experience.
