I have no love for FL but their entire team opted out before this game. You can't blame the coach for the lack of skill on the field

Alabama had one opt out in the bowl game last year despite having "nothing" to play for. Florida had at least seven opt outs this evening. I'd like to think the difference has something to do with the environment/culture created by the head coach.

Yeah, why is he getting a pass on this? What former players actually like Dan Mullen?

This is the correct perspective. Coaching has a shite ton to do with the culture around the players. Mullen isn’t much of a leader and his future NFLers basically stated this by their actions (or inactions).

His entire tenure at MSU was smoke and mirrors. I think he finished his time at MSU with somewhere close to zero wins over opponents who finished the season ranked. He padded his schedule with cupcakes and MSU’s permanent opponent from the East is Kentucky, who was perennial trash while he was there.

He didn't have many wins against teams that finished ranked, but State was basically perennial trash for almost a decade when he got there with like 7 of 8 losing seasons. Taking them to 6 or 7 consecutive bowls was not easy considering how bad they were when he got there. I have to give him some credit because I never in my life thought State would ever be ranked #1 in college football and he had them at #1 for like 4 or 5 weeks in a row with Dak Prescott.

I think he is becoming more of an a-hole at UF though and that's a bad combo when you have late season collapses at a place like UF. He better fix that D quick or he'll be getting shipped out.

If Saban has created such a winning culture at Alabama, then all the credit for Oklahoma's 45-31 win over Alabama in the Sugar Bowl a few years ago has to go to the Sooners.
With all that winning culture at Alabama, they would never give less than 100% in any game. Right?

Dan Mullen has no idea how to close and finish out a season strong. 27 of his 55 career losses (roughly half) as a head coach have come in the month of November or later. Additionally, coming into this season, 38 of his 90 career wins were against G5 or FCS teams (also had 2 losses to G5 teams South Alabama and Houston). 30 of his 52 career SEC wins have come against Vandy, Kentucky, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. He has 10 combined wins against LSU, Alabama, Auburn, and Georgia. 10 total wins in 12 seasons as a head coach against those 4 teams. The only team in the upper tier of the SEC he's had moderate success against has been Texas A&M with a 3-4 record.

He's a fraud

How is that relevant? Creating a winning culture doesn’t mean you win every ballgame. Culture is about how you approach the game and preparation for the game. Your role on the team, the effort you give, the accountability of owning and fixing mistakes. Those are instilled traits, and it doesn’t mean you never lose. It means you don’t embarrass your families and entire university because you’re a team full of selfish quitting bitches.

Should you substitute the "s" for "$" instead of the "e"?

It's relevant because a lot of Bama fans after that game claimed the reason they lost was because they didn't want to be there since they weren't playing for a national championship.

He never beat Petrino and was 3-1 against Bert. With the roster he had at the end, that 1 is inexcusable.

Alabama didn't lose by 35 and have multiple starters sit out to prepare for the NFL Draft. Yeah, it's likely the team wasn't very happy to be in the Sugar Bowl after the Kick Six but they still competed in the game until the very end. It was 38-31 and Alabama's ball when McCarron fumbled the game away. They never quit. You can't say the same thing for Florida.
