As you may remember from last week, the Tuscaloosa News began an 8-team playoff tournament between the greatest teams in Alabama history on NCAA Football '11. Last week saw 1992 Alabama defeat 1966 Alabama to advance to the next round. This week's game was between '61 Alabama and '25 Alabama. The game was a duel between the passing of '61's Pat Trammel and the running of '25's Johnny Mack Brown. Two very late touchdown passes were the difference as '25 Alabama stunned '61 Alabama by the score of 35-31.

Indeed. Next week 2009 Alabama faces off against 1934 Alabama. Should be interesting.

That '25 team did average 190lbs across that massive front.

They normalized the ratings for each player by giving set ratings to certain classes of players (all-American, all-conference, etc.).

So an All-American from the 1925 team has the same rating as an All-American from the 1961 team and both are rated higher than an all-conference player from either era.

I find it hilarious when people try to compare past teams to current teams. I'd like to see a graph of the average weight of O/D linemen per decade. Or the player statistics on the 72 dolphins.

when we were cleaning out the house i grew up in, i found an LSU program from first game of 1960 season vs. aTM. my mom had dated a couple of players from that team and one of them was listed at 6'2 210 pounds. She said everyone thought he was soooo HUGE. He played DT.
