Yeah, he was their best coach, but it was time to go. We have been through that before too. At some point a coach has done all he can at a program. It stagnates. See Mack Brown.

RC Slocum:A&M::Tuberville:Auburn

Slocum is still the winningest A&M coach but he was done. We just got fricked over by Bama with that Got Forsaken botched donkey abortion, Dennis "Little Debbie 77" Franochio.

Actually, that would be Pat Dye.

3 straight SEC championships (I think Bear and Spurrier are probably the only others to EVER do that).

4 total SEC championships

NC in 1983

4 straight AP top 10 finishes

9 straight bowl games

4 time SEC COY

ETC

It's remarkable how things have done a complete 180 from the early 2000s isn't it? Auburn and Tennessee fans were absolutely reveling in Alabama's on field and off the field misery with terrible play and NCAA sanctions. If you read Gridscape/Opponent(popular Tennessee site) and ITAT back then it was brutal how vicious and ugly UT and Auburn fans were towards Alabama fans. The worm has turned the last few years and the karma is amazing. UT and Auburn fans are getting what they gave back 10 fold. Alabama is going for national title #3 in the last 4 years and amazingly Auburn and UT combined for a whopping ONE conference win combined between the two of them. The problem is that Tennessee's situation is so pathetic that I can't even drum up enough animosity for them to even care about their pathetic situation. The only thing missing from all this is crippling NCAA sanctions at Auburn to top it off.

I thought Miami won the NC in 1983. Isn't this the year they upset Nebraska in the Orange Bowl?
