This is where you are wrong. The tenderness and soreness from an ankle sprain comes from the tendon continuing to be stressed/strained/pulled while it is trying to heal itself. The tightrope apparatus makes this tendon redundant and unnecessary. Its not like repairing a torn or strained ligament in the knee.

This surgery doesn’t limit his running ability at all. That tightrope basically holds his ankle in place while his ligament heals. It works the same way. He won’t be limited at all except by pain, but if he can’t feel anything (drugs) he won’t be limited.
