There would be no press conf if he was leaving.
The problem though is tua, his family and his various infirmities all like to suck the oxygen out of any room he happens to be in.

I think the opposite
I havne't kept up with this thing but I'm with the person you quoted, it seems odd to have a PC to say you're leaving. These days most people just put it on social media. I remember in the 16/17 offeseason our 4 big timers that were thinkign about leaving called a press conference wiht Kirby and announced they were all staying. It just seems...odd I guess, that tua would have a pc to say "yeah I'm leaving early". Like what would be the point of htat?

Tua on the field for pre-game warm ups. No indication if he’s playing today or not. Now, commercials.

We've been doing leaving press conferences for a decade.
Kids say they are leaving, Saban talks about how great they are, thats that.

What if, humor me here, the PC is for Tua to thank everybody and update folks on his health because he’s going to have to spend the next year rehabbing for the 2020 draft?
Who wins there? CrimsonBoz? Or one of his many detractors?
High stakes here...

Wtf? I went ahead and clicked on the link so I'd have the window open and this is immediately what I saw:
It played the Bama fight song with the footage of Tua on the sideline with a crutch and then immediately showed an advertisement for an upcoming story about "locals worried about the poop train."
Uhhhh....what?

Question, if his hip results came back not good, wouldn’t the NFL owners know? Example wouldn’t Miami be hesitant to pick him up 5th??
