Read before removing all doubt of ignorance.

A committee was formed suggesting these changes. This will go before Congress before the rules are implemented. If Congress passes the bill, more than likely the Supreme Court won’t hear the case unless the Judges have been losing their lunch money in on line betting.

Remember, Saban had a part in this as well.

When did this happen?

I'm all for the ORIGINAL purpose of NIL but then it got completely out of control with collectives , pay for play
and zero restrictions on transfers.

No contracts and zero restrictions on transfer is the reason for the mess we're in now.

Well, it’s a combination of a lot of layers, but the federal government funds the state and the state funds the universities. The federal government does provide federal grants and federal tuition to the majority of its students so they can attend the university which is essentially the federal government funding the school. It’s more complex but make no mistake, universities are publicly funded institutions by either local municipality money, state money, or federal money, and when you follow the money, you find the boss.

There needs to be change, or our world as we know will explode. Not just CFB

You know the system is broken when even bamafan's are writing rational posts about it.

For all the hype around "billions in college athletics", the amount brought in by athletic departments is generally less than or at best equal to the R&D $ universities bring in, and most of those are Federal or state. Note that the R&D figures below are all 3-4 years old, athletics revenues are generally 2024-2025.

UAT - $269M in R&D, $267M athletics revenue
Auburn - $304M in R&D, $194M athletics revenue
Texas - $1.37B in R&D, $331M in athletics revenue
LSU - $543M (inc multiple campuses) in R&D; $223M athletics revenue

Alabama's research and economic development is limited by a wrongheaded move in the late 1960s to separate the Birmingham satellite campus into its own university. You can't be a truly elite research university without a hospital and as long as those idiots in Birmingham get to have their own 4-year public institution for no good reason then UA will remain second class in that front.

Texas does the same thing, seems to have worked for them. UT system with the medical campuses is >$6B.

College sports is getting fricking ridiculous. You have guys playing their 7th year of college sports and players transferring to 5 or 6 different schools. It's about time the president or Congress stepped in.

Problem is it needs to be Congress. Executive orders aren’t laws; the moment it gets challenged it’ll fail on legal grounds.

Congress needs to get off their butts and do something, but everything is so polarized right now I’d be surprised if they could agree on where to get lunch together, much less anything remotely resembling actual legislation.

Austin is basically public ivy, I would just like Alabama to swing harder in their own weight class.

No one is telling anyone where they can go to college. But if you want to participate in sports…here are the rules. Sports participation is not a right.

Oh ? Well ... if A COMMITTEE was formed ? Then by all means, lets skip past labor law and just declare that certain folks ain't eligible to pursue free commerce.

After all. A committee got together and said so.

And ... bullshite. You know nothing of the law.

Coercion. That's what its called. Also tied into the idea of Monopolies and Fair Trade Practices.

You only have a choice when given a fair choice.

When free people want to incentive others to engage in commerce ? That's what we generally lie to each other and say Free Markets are built upon.,

When an organization ... the NCAA ... tries to get in between that free exchange for legal services ? We rightly call that either a Trust or a Monopoly or a Cartel. Pick your term.

Its an entity trying to block the otherwise free exchange, by free men, of capital for services.

Its bullshite.

What “Mess”? What’s wrong with college football in April of 2026?

Too much Freedom. Certain folks identify with the idea that their Brand Affiliation is just better. Its a Boomer Thing. Same a Ford Men or Chevy Men or why they would only smoke certain brands of smokes.

Its why certain men over halfway to the grave ... also know as men over 40 ... still get a hard on for certain colleges. Its their brand.

The issue goes to Congress. Congress takes the notes from the college committee and forms legislation from the Congressional Committee.

It’s too bad you didn’t read the news before this.
