Muschamp is young. I am sure he grew as a coach from his experience at UF. He was in over his head at UF and it showed, but Muschamp IMHO deserves another shot as being HC, and SC is a good fit. I think Muschamp has the potential to be a good HC, and hopefully he learned that no matter how good your defense is, modern cfb requires you to put points on the board.

I agree with everything you said there but one year removed isn't a lot of additional time to learn/grow/change IMO. And not to beat a dead psychotic horse but less than one week from when he went ballistic on the sidelines- makes me leery.

Hey, let's hire a guy that failed at a school that had better resources for football. Great strategy.

And I really doubt he learned much about how to be a HC from Gus.

I'm fine with the hire, but more importantly I want to see the staff that he's able to bring on

Horrible hire. Seems no one decent wanted that gig...

give someone like Chief a shot or even Fullmer... But WM is terrible.. HC sun belt material at best

How'd Mizzou's HR hire work out.

He was our third choice.

Not like we scraped the bottom of the barrel for him.

Herman - Stayed with Houston
Smart - Went to UGA
Muschamp - HC experience, with a good OC could be dangerous. Excellent recruiter, to boot.

Not the greatest hire, but we could have done a lot worse. Look at Mizzou.

Thread over.

Nothing to see here folks.

Muschamp interviewed at Houston a year ago before they chose Herman.

Now the Cocks crave but can't get Herman and they go get Houston's back-up plan.

Credit to CockInYourEar for the below post, which he got from CockyTalk:

I just saw this though, and it's interesting.

Per Gamecockology on Twitter:

Record thru first 4 seasons as HC:

Saban: 28-18
Beamer: 17-26
Mack Brown: 12-33
Holtz: 21-23
Dantonio: 25-23

Muschamp: 28-21

So basically by your criteria, anyone you hire be awesome and headed for the natty?

Dude was a disaster at Florida, probably the easiest place to win at the SEC, and he even failed as a DC this year. He's not Saban. He's not even Les Miles.

If they throw down on each other, who wins? Serious question.

Taking over UF post Meyer is definitely the same as those situations he's being compared to
