Y'all are tied with Mississippi...

Rick Perry single-handedly destroyed our academic standing. That is not an exaggeration.
I have met the man on a dozen occasions and even (sort of) worked with him when I served as an aide in the Legislature. He is perhaps the dumbest human being with a college degree that I have ever known.

Go jerk it to your new fattest state title.

Mizzou is on verge of losing AAU status like Nebraska did.
A&M is dropping because our idiot governor and idiot school president wants to get the school to 80k kids so they take like 70% of applicants. It's getting ridiculous

Nebraska got the boot because their medical school isn't on campus.

I know it has always been that way, but there are some schools in that Top-50 that I was surprised to see 20 years ago.
They top 50 pretty much belong there. The only possible exceptions are some of the UC schools. It's been documented that they pad the peer reviews of their fellow institutions.

LSU is tied with UF? Interesting take.

I don't get the AAU at all. I am missing something obviously.
AAU membership is based solely on the amount of research being done. So schools heavy on technical stuff (engineers, scientists, medical fields) will naturally be higher than those that, well, aren't. I get that but I've never understood why it is important. And that's coming from a graduate of an AAU university.

80,000 kids is ridiculous...from an educator's point of view.
That must put an immense amount of stress on your professors.
I would strike or something, lol.
That is not fair to your whole college as far as both teachers AND students are concerned.

SMU climbing up the ranks. Dallas is a bad arse city to be in.

Florida is hard as hell to get into these days. They regret folks with 4.0 gpa's. Unfortunately, with the higher standards, the quality of beautiful albeit not so smart woman has gone down big time. UF use to be the number 1 party school in the country, year after year but now all the fine woman go to FSU, UCF, USF, FIU, and FAU. Hell, even Broward and Valencia college have nicer quantity of woman.
A lot of Gator fans these days don't even stand up at games, don't drink much and God forbid ever yell. Some students don't even go to the games because they have to study. WTH?

You are using the wrong data site in the first place. USNWR is based on the consumer (college students / parents of college students) as they make money selling data hence they are skewed to metrics making said sales possible.
AAU is research based with a blend of the "lucky sperm club" for schools who joined in the first decade when standards were much lower. so viewing the schools through the research lens will greatly alter this list. ARWU might be a better source but looking into National Science Foundation numbers might be better still.

You are confused. Louisiana was ranked #1 fattest in the last ranking. But this is a different ranking. This US News ranking is only about dollars, bro.
