4. Arch Manning - Clearly wasnt ready to live up to the hype early in the season but developed into something close to what we expected. He should build on that this season.

5b. Gunner Stockton - Should probably be higher on the list, but hes not bringing the legs to the table like Reed and Brown. Hes a great QB surrounded by incredible talent.
I am confused at what Manning has done that Gunner has not. And, for the record, Arch has had more offensive talent around him than Stockton has...and was on a preseason #1 team last year. Their statistics, when broken down are similar. Yes, Arch threw for more yards and TD, but also threw for more INTs and threw more passes. And, I would argue that Stockton performed better in pressure situations.
Don't get me wrong, because i like Arch and think he has been criticized more than he deserved. I also think he will improve over last season, but I also think Stockton will improve. I'm just not convinced he is better than Stockton. Arch is also considered the better runner, however Stockton ran for 63 more yards.

Leaving Austin Simmons off of this is a joke.

Manning will win the Heisman this year if he is merely functional. Media wants it too badly.

The name carries weight, there is no doubt. And, again, I have nothing against the kid. He was put in an impossible position that he did not ask for, but that comes with the name. That said he has been given a lot of leeway and advantages because of his name, but he has also taken a lot of grief because of his name.
All that said, if you compare names and results I don't understand why someone on this board would rate him higher than Stockton. It just doesn't make sense when you compare statistics and results. Stockton gets downgraded because he has great talent around him, but Texas' defense was excellent last year and he had better players around him than Stockton did...or should have since Texas was preseason #1.

I so hope you are right about this.

2. Byrum Brown - Probably the most physically gifted QB all around in the country. I dont think people realize how good he is.
I don't know that he's the most physically gifted QB at all, but he's talented and more importantly knows both the coach and the system.
Its impossible to overstate how important that is for a new coach with a QB centric offense.
I think he'll put up big numbers on the plains if they can protect him.
