ETA: Plus, Spencer Ware only had 175 yards on the season last year. He had one good game and is getting all this hype. Dyer had more yards against Ole Miss alone.
Hamstring injury sidelined him for the 2nd and Third games, he was not the #1 back on the depth chart, he did not have a scat back(McCalleb) or a fumbling Fanin ahead of him, he didnt have backs ahead of him that were ill effective,(ark) and he when called upon early on it was as a FB or a WR.
So of course his numbers would be down.

How dare you bring facts and logic to the sec rant, Memphis.

I don't think you're crazy. Just a little homer

but i was really surprised at how low Auburns Freshmen rushing record was. I mean it was in the 800s i thin which is nothing to sneeze at but still.
Just out of curiousity, what are other schools freshman records?

Akin to asking the hypothetical "how many more yards would Davis have had if he carried for more than 6, 5, 3, 6 and 10 times in Games 1-5"
Who knows and be sure to stop at the gift shop on the way out.

? How am I ignoring his production? Two of the people I put in front of (Knile and Lattimore) out-performed him last year.
Why don't you look at number of carries in your in-depth analysis?
Davis - 204 - 15.7/game
Lattimore - 249 - 19.2/game
Dyer - 182 - 13/game
I know it's a hard concept, but >carries = >yards.

The only person who put less numbers up than him was Trent, and Trent was sharing runs with a Heisman winner. Trent will get a lot more carries this year. Couple that with the fact that there are a lot of unknowns in regards to Bama's QB situation and it's almost guaranteed he is going to get a significant amount more carries this year.
Tate (2009) - 263 carries - 20.2/game
I personally think it will be along the lines of 16-18 a game.

Mallett was a giant tree, incapable of moving, so any sort of rush defensive scheme would center around stopping our RBs (mostly Knile) and not Mallett. With Auburn, teams had to prepare for a run not only from Dyer but ALSO from Cam, meaning a lot less attention could be given to an individual player. There is a night and day difference
You do know there is a difference between how your DLine defends against the pass vs. the rush, right? You do know that every team was more worried about Mallett sitting in the pocket all day than handing the ball off, right?
Why do you think slip-screens, draws, etc work so well on obvious passing downs?

2. Spencer Ware- call me a homer. Veteran Oline, run heavy offense, multi-deminsional back, and a group of Backs to keep the wear and tear off of just him. A veteran Oline is something Ark and Auburn are in severe lack of.
You are still having to jump to a pretty broad conclusion here without much evidence to go off of in terms of his performance and durability as the go-to back.
This really is no different than people automatically assuming that Tyler Wilson will fill the shoes of Mallett. Lots of speculation with little evidence to prove one way or the other. I just hope you aren't one of the ones that are casting stones at people who speak highly of Tyler, but then turn around and exclaim that your RB will come out of nowhere and be the second-best back in the league.

I agree.
The AU backs will be splitting carries three ways...possibly 4 so their production #s wont be nearly as high as the one horse teams.

None of which matters when you consider your losses on the Oline.

Not yet. I'll work on some soon. I need some new ideas first.

1. LSu has shown we can plug RB with talent in and have 1000+ yard running back. Charles Scott, Stevan Ridley both had 1000+ yards their first year starting. That being said we have such a stable of RB i look for Ware to have just about 1000, but lsu to have over 2,000 yrds rushing total.
2. i say richardson will have more than Davis. Just a system thing. If Wilson is good they will pass too much for Davis to get the same number of carries, if wilson sucks then you get a stacked box
3. Dyer will get stats, but your right Auburn will be jsut liek they were in 09. mediocre QB play, and stats inflated on cupcake teams.

this. which is why
quote:
Davis
Richardson
Bolden
Ballard
Lattimore
Dyer
looks pretty accurate
Davis, Richardson, and Bolden will lead the league. Then it's a toss up between Ballard and Lattimore. Lat is losing help and Ballard will have Perkins getting a few carries. Dyer will be splitting a lot with a new line. Yeah Richardson is gonna be splitting some but you when you have the best RB in the country you give him the rock.

Again - 175 yards on the season, with one good game... And it was against aTm. I'm not saying he doesn't have ability or what not (hell, I drafted him on my CFFD), but to put him atop the West as the most productive RB is a little crazy. He hasn't proved anything. This is like me saying Trovon Reed will lead the league in receiving yards, or Jake Holland will lead the SEC in tackles. It just won't happen, IMO.

Again he was a FB and a WR out of the backfield for more than the first half of the season.
His numbers would be down. Especially when you have a future 1000 yd rusher, and 3rd round pick ahead of you on the depth chart that was a similar back. Something Arkansas and Auburn didn't have.

1. Trent Richardson
2. Marcus Lattimore
3. Michael Dyer
4. Spencer Ware
5. Knile Davis
Obviously this is all IMO.
