Wrong. And you should go ahead and add Saban's successor to that list (and probably the 3-4 coaches after him).

Look I hated Nutt as much as the next guy but he's Nick Saban compared to most of the guys on that list

Agreed, he had some miserable years at Arkansas, particularly towards the end when he'd all but given up on recruiting... but he also fielded some very good teams and won the West a few times.

Gus may jump the tracks a few times each year but he's been a pretty decent HC for Auburn.

I think Bret Beilma to Arkansas has to go up there considering the buyout he has and how long we're stuck with him.

Extremely dumb imo. I do not like Butch but he should not be on this list

5. Arkansas hires Houston Nutt.

He won 3 west titles, that automatically makes him better than anything Ole Miss has hired in the last 20 years.

You listed 12 and didn't list MSU hiring Croom?

The man was incompetent and may have been the worst SEC coach of modern times. He managed to finish last place every season except the one that Wesley Carroll and Ellis Johnson bailed him out of and went to the Liberty Bowl.

The man went for it on 4th and 2 from the opponent's 45 and made it, only to punt on 4th and 1 from the opponent's 30 three plays later.

He was well liked by the rest of the SEC because he was a pushover and would never compete. Everyone would tell State fans - I like your coach, he's a nice guy. Yet when he was finally fired for taking a senior laden team to 4-8 he blamed racism.

There is no list of SEC head coach hires that shouldn't have Croom at MSU #1 or #2. Dooley at Tennessee is the only competition.

Almost destroyed Alabama. Should be higher.

Dubose also won an SEC Title. Beat SOS twice in one year.

If we're being honest, Alabama should own about a third of that list.

In the last 50 years we hired the three Mikes and we botched a hire and took Bill Curry over Bobby Bowden.

If you are going by who we hired instead of who we could have gotten then yes... we make the list. Back in the day, as legend has it, Pete Carroll expressed interest in the Arkansas job but we never bothered to return his phone call.

Most suspect that is why he ran up the score when his USC teams beat the brakes off us two years running, though he's mellowed in recent years. We contacted him about the HC job a few years ago but he preferred to stick with the Seahawks.

Same coach at different schools should probably count as just 1, not 2

12. UK hires Joker Phillips.

Could be much higher due to how far backwards UK went

2008 January 18th, Joker named "coach in waiting" for UK
2008 UK finishes 7-6 and wins Liberty Bowl
2009 Last year of Brooks / last winning season
2010 Joker year 1 - last bowl game, lost
2011 Joker year 2
2012 Joker year 3
2013 Stoops year 1
2014 Stoops year 2
2015 Stoops year 3
2016 Stoops year 4, UK gets back to bowl game

Almost a decade just to get back to slightly above average.
