Obviously their recruits aren't worth a shite anyway.

True. However, they now need to recruit all new players unless they still plan on running the spread.

They just lost a ton of recruiting ground for 09 IMO.

So you hire an OC to bring in his system when you don't have the players to run that system, then you give him one offseason to overhaul the offensive personnel, then when he tried to run his system without those personnel you fire him.

How do you get a guy to come replace Franklin? If you don't succeed in one year no matter what the personnel/scheme situation is you are done? Not going to be high interest.

Not only does this throw recruiting into turmoil, but what decent OC would want to coach here now, 5 OC's in 10 years and now not even lasting an entire season. just .... wow

With Tony Franklin goes the spread offense, as far as I can imagine. Unless TT just picked up Franklin's DVD and gave him the axe to free up some salary.

It would be funnier if that wasn't entirely possible.

Tubbs and his boys were the reason the O suffered, not Tony.

AU is nuts. That guy was awesome. He just needed a few years to implement his system.

Apparently TT says that he has made the decision to change back to the original offense (or as much of a facsimile they can reach for the remainder of this year).

I am guessing Bear Bryant will replace him.

This puts a ton of pressure on Bama. If Bama can't beat AU when AU doesn't even have an OC, the season is a total loss and the process will start next year.

TT also mentioned he was going to "take on a greater role in the offense"

That may mean he won't even hire an OC and just go back and run the old system himself.
