One of my earliest EB memories(I was probably 7-8yrs old)… went to the game in Jackson with my Grandmother (God rest her soul) yes, my Grandmother. Big football fan. As was typical, the weather was shite. Cold, rainy, etc.

Our seats just “happened” to be on the Home side that day. Home belonging to OM. You see, my Grandmother was a closet Ole Miss fan ( that bitch). She was from Drew. A couple of her brothers played at OM. (How the frick do Delta farmers go to OM?) Literally all of my grandmothers and her brothers children would be ardent State fans going forward. My grandparents in retrospect went to all the OM games in Jackson, many times those games were Double Headers as State and OM would both have games on the same day. Anyone remember that shite? . They, and all their friends would stay and party at the Admiral Benbow hotel on State Street. (Anyone remember that shite hole)

Anyway, back to the story. So me and the old OM woman were sitting in the cold misery on the OM side, when at one point, across the field, some of the State faithful began unfurling a sign the spanned the entire width of the center section of the opposing stands.

As a little kid, I was briefly shocked…mesmerized then proudly realized I was a Bulldog for life, despite what I’m sure were my grandmother’s dark, secret wishes that I’d somehow become a rebel. No fricking way bitch.
