I think Gus is surprised how shitty Memphis is. He came in thinking he'd have to use every trick play in the book to beat them and after awhile he was just like "screw it, page one of the playbook is enough to roast this shite team".

Given that the head coach normally has less impact on a particular unit, I would disagree. You could easily argue CWM was the Head Coach of D for Auburn based on the way Gus chooses to organize a staff.
