From Rivals
We asked to switch our home game to 2003 because we got the stadium re done and wanted Auburn to open it up and do the neutral site game in 2004. Auburn didn''t want to do the neutral site game in 2004 so it was dropped and you ended up with Bowing Green which turned into the Citadel. Go frick yourself.

Originally, the two teams were scheduled to play a three game series with the first game at the Georgia Dome in 2003, followed by a game at Tech's Grant Field in 2004, then a game at Auburn's Jordan-Hare Stadium in 2005.

You stupid little frick stick. Your own post says that prior to 2003, you asked for a change. We said no.
So, what others have learned is that GT, prior to the 2003 season, asked to change the agreed series series scheduled for 2003, 2004,and 2005. Auburn couldn't accommodate that request and said no. You caused the game not to be played and you had nothing to do with us playing The Citadel two years after you said that you couldn't honor the original agreement.
You are one stupid GT fan.

Dumbfrick. You had Tech on the schedule for 2003, 2004 and 2005. Regardless of whether 2003 was played at Tech or in the Dome you were coming to Atlanta. You backed out of the 2004 game. All we did was ask to swap the Dome game with the game at Grant Field. Reading comprehension is your friend but hey we're making progress. When this argument started you swore that there was never a neutral site game ever on the schedule.

Only if GaTech didn't leave the SEC. They'd kick y'alls arse more often.

Auburn played The Citadel in 2004 only because Bowling Green backed out to play Oklahoma. The media used this as a reason for putting Oklahoma ahead of Auburn due to perceived SOS. Like 2004 Auburn wouldn't have beaten Bowling Green.
The reason AU didn’t make the championship game is because the Barners backed out of playing Tech in the neutral game, this is a well documented fact. Probably that dum SOB Tommy Tuberville made that stellar decision. if you had played it and AU won- you would have been in.

2015: Richt starting Faton Bauta
That was a real low point in the program. It hurt bad to be a Dawg for a while there.

So was the 03 game supposed to be in 04 originally? Auburn played USC in 2002, both USC and GT in 2003, no one in 2004, and then GT in 2005.

Rivalry games are typically that way. Still doesn’t mean they are any good.

This. This right here. This is why Georgia fired a coach that averaged over 10 wins a year. And it was well deserved.
In fairness, a ton of fans on our board was screaming for Richt to start Bauta. There was a reason Bauta was not getting playing time.

So, you admit that they are a tough game. That's exactly his point. But...isn't Auburn supposed to be a rivalry game?
I think it's a "tough" game because Georgia rarely takes Georgia Tech seriously while Georgia Tech sees the Bulldogs as their Super Bowl. Meanwhile, Auburn usually has a fairly solid and competitive team so Georgia takes them much more seriously than they do the Yellow Jackets.

I've always heard that SCar was gonna hire Kirby after Spurrier quit but I'm not sure how true that is or not.
That was the story that was going around. Who knows how true it is, but one thing we heard was that rumor led to Richt being fired when he was and Goeriga offering Kirby.
Side note, is that Auburn turned Kirby down for Malzahn (I think it was?)

I may be relatively new here but I've never seen anyone say it's "unfair" for you to play them. I have, however, seen a bunch of people laugh when you brag about playing two P5/4 teams OOC.

Agree but 1994-96 was way worse

That's a dumb thing to say. It would be like a Georgia fan saying:
"If Tulane hadn't left the SEC, they would have beaten LSU a whole lot more!"

This MIGHT be a stretch. But all indicators do suggest that the OOC games were one reason Auburn did not over take the other USC or Oklahoma. Their OOC schedule was harder...and certainly GT would have made the Auburn schedule stronger. Would they have made the difference? Hard to say.

I'm sure that has something to do with it. But couldn't the same thing be said about Alabama/Auburn? Could that explain why Alabama (relatively speaking) struggles against Auburn and Georgia does not?

It is true though. GaTech leaving the SEC helped Georgia immensely. Being independent and unsuccessful at it was a huge blow to Tech.

Usce fans claim richt was fired bc they were scared Kirby would go to usce. Might be true but I seriously doubt it. Kirby had been offered jobs before and he turned them down. He didn’t patiently wait with saban just to take the usce job. He was waiting for an elite job.
