Sorry that we are a complete team that doesn't need to run air raid no huddle to score points and win games.

A&M had a top tier offense with Sherman running a pro style, Mike didn't recruit defense very well. Sumlin has recruited defense very well, but those guys are just starting to come into their own.

You win with juniors and seniors, Sumlins first full class will be juniors this year.

This would hold water if aTm's best defense of the last 5 years hadn't been fielded the year after Sherman left.

He obviously left some talent for Sumlin and co. to work with.

What "young talent"? Myles Garrett? And who else? Your defense has no talent

Actually by the numbers right now Texas A&M has the most talented set of defensive players we have had in over a decade. There are plenty of four and five star talents on that side of the ball. We aren't LSU or Bama, but frick only like five programs in the entire country have the defensive talent LSU has. We are doing better with defensive recruiting the last three years than we have in the entire time I have been following A&M.

quote:

Chavis is a below average LB coach and last time I checked your DL and DB coaches are nobodies

Actually our DB coach did great at Nebraska. He is just a nobody to you.

quote:

going by your logic ya'll should've brought in an enthusiastic young coach and top notch assistants

No, because a young guy wouldn't have the skins on his wall to get the kind of buy-in our players needed. Honestly our defense isn't half as bad talentwise as people pretend. People act like we have recruited Vanderbilt levels, when really we have the fourth most talent on that side of the ball in the division probably. Our issue is for years that talent acting like pussies who were afraid of getting popped in the mouth. Chavis has the kind of record that maybe they will listen when he says man up.

quote:

Ya'll are completely fricked unless he has a serious change of heart in philosophy because lining up less talented players in man coverage every play is a recipe to get shredded

I really am not scared of our passing defense. Last years it was being out of position that caused the big plays and not a lack of talent. A boost in fundamentals could really help that unit.

Where I am more scared honestly is that defensive line going up against the SEC's best RBs. We don't have a lot of depth at that position and I think a game of pounding could open things in the fourth quarter (and not just because of Chavis).

quote:

You understand that in the college game most of our current "superior" players are going to be gone in a year or two right?

Les will be gone in a year or two if the current players don't perform well. Yall aren't in the build a program stage like A&M. Yall are in the "let's get the best out of our built program while we can" stage.

quote:

what we're going to (possibly) lose in competence on game day will be more than compensated for by elite assistants to teach good fundamentals and help game plan and elite talent

Didn't yall have all the same assistants under Chavis that yall will have under Steele except one person? So how can the addition of "elite assistants" close the coaching gap between Steele and Chavis when Chavis had pretty much the same assistants? It makes no sense.

Actually it makes it worse because if yall's defense has a setback next year with only one element different it will be obvious what change caused the regression.

bullshite. A&M fans have been making fun of LSU last year saying we should've been able to win with freshman all over the field on offense including the most important position.

We play big boy football not gimmick high school ball.

You play the cards you are given. Because it is a poor state Louisiana is filled with high schools where the guys just hit each other all day like its the 1960s because that is all they have the resources for. In Texas we have high schools with more resources than some Power 5 programs, and using those resources they develop the players to have a finesse passing attack. It is great if you are a fan of Texas High School football, but if you are a fan of the college sport you end up with a lot of overdeveloped talent with a huge ego who is scared of getting hit because they never dealt with that in high school.

If we tried to go against the grain and get a coach like Bret we would be locked in that 7th spot in the SEC West forever.

Offensive points per game stats:

2008 A&M: 25
2008 LSU: 30.9
2009 A&M: 32
2009 LSU: 24.8
2010 A&M: 31.2
2010 LSU: 29.7
2011 A&M: 39.1
2011 LSU: 35.7

So LSU has had a top tier offense too, right?

So....

Louisiana = tough

Texas = pussies

So, when is A&M going to address the fact that they're offense sputtered quite a bit last year? I thought Sumlin was an offensive genius? What changes this year?

We actually changed more on the offensive side of the ball than the defensive side. Like I have said over ten times this offseason.

signed the MAlVeto Defense.

but other than that LSU will be in pretty good shape with who we have and AtM will be in good shape with Chavis

No one can read that shite. Did they teach you how to copy & paste at A&M or were you too busy grooming a princess dog, fricking sheep, jizzing into jars, and cutting down trees?

So you gained 27 more yards than LSU despite running 86 more plays, and you are proud of this?
