waking up early to go out to our tailgating spot and drinking all day. When the sun starts to go down walking to Tiger Stadium on a cool Saturday evening and soaking in the atmosphere, its always amazing. Then the band on the field playing the first four notes and feeling the excitement in the stadium. And of course Saturday night in Tiger Stadium. It really gets no better.

The quiet roar in the crowd before a big play happens and the explosion that ensues.

Whether it is at Tiger or Neyland Stadiums, its the same. When the bands come out prior to the game and when the teams run out. Gives me chill bumps every time.

The eagle flying high and free to the roar of War Eagle.
The deep blue of the autumn sky, with orange and blue sunsets.
The haze of shaker fuzz (old style paper shakers) floating in the shadows made by the west stands late in the game.

The crisp feeling in the air that means fall is here and it's time for serious football to start. The smell of whiskey at 8am in the Grove and the yelling of are you ready. Make no mistake the change in the air is my favorite. I love fall, and football. Almost always when I stand realizing it is the perfect football weather it is a big game and you get this feeling come over you of we will win today. It is the best feeling ever. I also love waking up from my drunken stooper the next morning to realize I can barely talk from yelling the whole game. Makes me feel like I accomplished something!

Wow, great thread. I can't add much but I'll try.
-That feeling all week leading up to a BIG game. It's almost like there's something in the air that weighs down on you, it just FEELs different. Especially on campus (but sadly those days are gone for me after last year
)
-Getting up when it's still dark outside and getting to the tailgate spot and setting up. That smell of fall.
-Cracking a beer at 7:30 and not feeling like an alcoholic, I mean it is gameday.
-Seeing others file in and set up their tents and TVs too. Walking over to other tents and talking about the matchups for the day.
-Gameday getting cranked up and seeing all the other good games on for the day.
-That feeling you get when you have a beer in hand, see people tossing the football, smell meat cooking on a grill, see the leaves in the trees and know that this is fall, this is football season dammit.
-Putting up the tent and making that pilgrimmage to the stadium
-The way everything looks from your seat. It's just different than on TV. No matter what kind of TV you have, plasma, HD, 5D, whatever. Things just look cooler when you're there and can see it all.
-Being able to spot a big play a SPLIT second before it breaks. Like seeing the receiver juke a corner and break on a post pattern just as the QB starts his throwing motion. It's like your own little secret that you already know it's a TD and nobody else does! I love that.
-The walk out of the stadium with thousands of others in red barking and chanting. Going home to post up on the couch, crack a few more cold ones, watch the late games, and reflect on the game. Then start getting pumped for next week!
Football saturdays in the fall...nothing like it.

Too much badassery going down during football season. Hard to pinpoint a "favorite feeling". I dunno... Game day Saturday is one of the few times that my wife will watch me get hammered and NOT give me shite about it. Great excuse to drink. Also, she usually cooks up some super-spicy wings and other goodies all day long during Fall Saturdays.
I mean, I could go on forever about the greatness of football season, but I'll leave it at eating and getting hammered.
