Honest question....Why are Florida fans so adamant about not going to a home and home?
I get tradition, but it seems tradition is getting bounced in every area of College Football.

Yeah sorry DL. I don’t mean to get worked up.
Not problem. It just seems so out of character for you.

You could get worked up every week and still be one of the more sane posters on this board.
(Don't get excited about that. The bar is set pretty low)

DL..

You could be right. It’s always heated, but this seems unusually heated.. with the 2 year extension up.. I’m wondering if maybe this will be enough to push the recruiting on neutral sights.. it’s not like they can’t afford it…. Maybe get the schools bumped to 5M a year, get the SEC to approve sideline passes and recruiting suites at the game.. what would be better than UGA getting a recruiting weekend against Florida in Athens every other year.. a recruiting weekend every year at one of the most unique environments in college football.

Yeah let's ignore all the UGA fans who want it to stay in Jax.

I was asking why most Florida fans are so adamant.
I know why Georgia fans like it in JAX.

I am guessing from your response you don't know?

So then that makes your post even more confusing.

No, because those schools are representative of the country more than the state or region they're in.

They represent the Naval Academy and West Point. Just like the Georgia Bulldogs and Florida Gators represent the University of Georgia and the University of Florida.

Ultimately it's up to the schools and fanbases themselves but I just thought I'd pitch in my $0.02 since the topic is up.

No, it's not. Ultimately...it's up to the money. No one cares what the fans think. If they did, we never would have had conference expansion or conference championship games.

Well if $ is all that matters then the game should definitely stay in Jax.

Because i saw where I did not say that most Georgia fans were in favor of keeping it in JAX. I mean to say that, and yes...I understand that most Georgia fans (at least the ones I know) want it in JAX. NOW will you answer my question, or do we have to pull teeth to get an answer?

Why are Florida fans so adamant?

(I have to go for a bit, so i will check on this thread to see if you can manage a reply without trying to get a gotcha.

Jacksonville is what makes the game fun. Making it a home and home is making like every other game on the schedule. It will no longer be set for Halloween weekend. It can be shifted/moved to the front end or back end of the schedule at any given year.

It will be no bigger than your Aub/Tenn rivalry game.

It's funny because right after that he also said "most UGA fans I know are also adamant about it staying" but tried to ninja-edit it out.

I just wish they were honest with themselves.

I want them to look at their schedule and point to a game they look forward to the most and tell me what game that is. I’m willing to bet 90+% of them look at the Florida game and say it’s because it’s a fun rivalry that’s played in Jacksonville.

Texas and OU have the same arrangement playing in Dallas every season and I have never heard a peep from them about recruiting disadvantages. Only Georgia, who recruits better than Florida, Texas and OU seems to not be able to see benefit of the Cocktail party.

Unlike others, Kirby is hardcore focused on winning above all else. He wants any advantage possible to maximize potential.

I don't get why some get so bent out of shape. I've been to Jax for games and it's a good time. More times than that, I ended up staying in SSI and not going to the game.
I personally would like to see UGA in Gainesville for a night game and get that experience. I won't be attending a game in the swamp any other way. I also wouldn't mind seeing the jorts in Sanford and getting to tailgate in Athens.
Either way...the game isn't going anywhere and it's not losing a rivalry.

The original post said that "If you had read my posts, you would know that I already said that most Georgia fans wanted it to stay in JAX." When I went back, I realized that I had not said that in a previous post.

I was trying to correct something I said.

Look. It's obvious you can't carry on a normal conversation. I was not trying for a gotcha. I was not trying to be sneaky. I was merely clarifying and correcting.

Can you answer the question, or do you even know?
