The tackling was atrocious that’s for sure. To be fair, and I may be alone in this, but I don’t think Martinez is as bad as he’s made out to be. I feel like he develops players
As an analyst he could do that in practice. I just don’t believe he is the right guy on game day.

It’s the offense
Heupel doesn’t even use the high tempo offense as a base set anymore. The wide splits are rare and he would prefer to run it 60% plus.
It’s not the offense. They slowed down to help the defense most of the year.

Winning with Defense is so much harder. He had a great defense last year but Hippo and the Samoan let you down in Buckeye Town.
Did you actually watch that game?? Lol

Then why did your offense predictably go from looking unstoppable to turnovers and 30 second three and outs as the game progressed?

Oline injuries, slowing down to protect the D disrupted timing, upgrade in opposition and playing away night games.

Giving up 600 yards to Vandy in Neyland is glorious.

I feel like he develops players, take Redmond as an example. He progressed as the season went on. Now, I do think his recruiting is pretty subpar but has developed players. Sure, there’s probably a better position coach out there that recruits much better and wouldn’t mind that option either.
Banks was bad...Martinez is worse. I'd break open the piggy bank and bring Justin Wilcox back as DC and I'd send Martinez packing and bring back Terry Fair as DB coach.
