per Gamecock Radio Network - the Auburn grounds crew did not water down the area in front of home plate for game 1 tonight - our sinker ball P has had a few bounce high and a few skip through the infield early on -

I can appreciate that Auburn - tip of the cap

I've no idea if this was to improve bounce but it seems unlikely. I think, with as much rain is around, they didn't want to add more water.

true on the rain -

I have no issue if it was a little gamesmanship - we used to have that in our dugouts - but really none since around 2018 or so -

for a long time it was Jim "Storm" Toman - that's a page out of his book

eta - at this point Mainieri is looking at getting run-ruled in the series opener - and there's a good chance it won't be the only time it happens this weekend -

This year's SC team doesn't look like a normal SC team.

South Carolina hasn’t been to Omaha in over 10 years

This is normal for them at this point

Mark Kingston managed 2 Supers - one a 3 game Super in front of the best home crowd/scene in all of college baseball - at Arkansas - the other in Gainesville to the eventual CWS Runner Up Florida -

Holbrook had 2 Supers as well -

but yeah Carolina had just played in Omaha in 6 of the previous 11 seasons prior to the year Holbrook took over for Tanner -

Gamecock baseball went 17 seasons between trips to Omaha in the twilight of June Raines' successful run as HC and the early Tanner years -

Poor SC. We’re obliterating their pitching.

Y'all have no bullpen. I don't know why but it's bad.

here's the 3 pitching coaches we've had in the past 3 seasons -

Justin Parker now the interim at State
Matt Williams now at Coastal Carolina
and finally Terry Rooney who Mainieri had to have in order to take the USC job -

That's hard. My assumption is that you turn it around in two years but it may be a rough two years. We've obviously been there before.

Paul has a 5 million buyout and is hurtling us toward the abyss. We are screwed. Good luck recruiting if this is the product you are putting out

it's brutal - we've never seen this - maybe some time way back in the early 1960's - but not since Bobby Richardson built it -
