That had more to do with Fromm being a freshman, needing the play action, and getting ahead in the chains than it did anything last season. I thought it was wise to be so run first. It helped Fromm mature and took much of the burden off of him.

Also, it didn't hurt UGA's defense was an excellent, mature group last season. Punting wasn't a bad thing at all.

Actually, it is Kirby smarts desire to dominate the opponent mentally.

Last year when we were run heavy on 1st down, we still passed a lot on 2nd and 3rd down based upon down/distance. But the goal was to punish teams into submission.

Occassionally, we couldn't run into a stacked box. We scored 21 points on Kentucky last year in 3 quick drives starting in the second quarter by flipping the switch and passing on 1st down. It quickly took control of the game.

We didn't flip that switch in the first matchup of auburn until it was too late. In the rematch and post season play, we were much more balanced on 1st down and it led to a lot of points on the board (but more time on the field for our defense).

We protected fromm. But the play selection on first down versus the other downs was not necessarily how we did it.

Don't we all. Rarely happens though, that's being dominant on both sides of the the ball.

Your post made me think of a stat I saw yesterday.

BAMA hasn't punted in 8 consecutive quarters of football. That's crazy.

We've been rotating like mfers again this year with plenty of blowouts to get even more reps for our back ups. I'm not worried about not having experienced players. But I'd prefer to have the starters out there obviously.

We are 57-12-2 all time with an 8 game win streak against you and we don't have your respect?

Screw punting as a strategy. I want to see an offense and defense that can blow those doors off.

A lot of Georgia fans are pointing at Alabama as proof of "having it all", but their defense has not been nearly as dominating as in years past. When you have a high powered offense, you get off the field faster and your defense stays on the field longer. You will rarely have a team that dominates on both sides of the ball.

Starting RG is out for the season. Backup is freshman Cade Mays who already had alot of playing time at LT. He is a much better guard than tackle. His only problem is he likes tussling after the whistle and has multiple penalties for stupid shite. The fact he hasn't been benched yet is testament to his talent at guard.

OL will be fine, unless the injuries continue to pile up. If everyone stays healthy, we are very good on OL, no worries right now.

The best thing about this UGA offense is Justin Fields. Whenever Fromm and the rest of the offense is in a rut, they put in Fields for one or two plays, offense totally changes, gets first downs and TD's, then Fromm goes back in.

Has that been announced? I thought he might be back for the last games.

Kirby Smart said during his Monday press conference that the sophomore suffered a “mild” MCL sprain, a far less serious injury that it seemed at the time. Smart said Kindley could even practice today, and the Bulldogs are hopeful he’ll be ready to go against LSU on Saturday.

Yeah, Cleveland is not out for the season. He is expected back, possibly even for Florida.

With a defensive gauntlet of LSU, Florida, UK, and Auburn...do you think Georgia will be able to keep putting up good numbers during this stretch?

I think if they manage to get through this stretch without having an off night on offense, they'll earn my respect. Will be exciting to watch.

Georgia has the weapons to keep up the point totals. Like Bama, we have a lot of walk ons with rush attempts (4 different players with 19 rush attempts).
Our 4th string freshman tailback (James Cook) has 30 rush attempts.

I'm not saying that we are Bama on offense. But our offensive success has been in limited reps for our 2 deep (3 deep at tailback).

Hasn't slowed us yet...we have a Lineman down each game and still stomping people in the trenches.

Not that worried tbh

In typical Kirby fashion, he'll have to win his job back from Mays, so just because he'll be cleared to play by the doctors doesn't mean he's going to get his job back right away. That's why I say "for season" at least for the purposes of this conversation about our offense in general. And as long as Mays is bulldozing, no reason to rush Cleveland back.

UGA is easily the 2nd best team behind Bama. If UGA goes undefeated heading into the SEC title game, are they in? People are acting like ND is a lock, but can UGA be penalized for qualifying for an extra game against the #1 team and losing? Notre Dame does not play in a conference, and that should mean something. You can't penalize a team for losing a conference championship game when ND just gets to sit at home right? Nobody is talking about that, but I would have a huge problem if ND gets in over UGA, and I am a Florida fan lol. I can just see the chaos coming already!

Their Oline has to be a big worry I'd suspect.

We have certainly had some nagging injuries there. But, no team has recruited a single position better over the last few years than we have OL.

Even with the injuries, I suspect we will be able to perform as good or better than Florida did on the OL against LSU. LSU looked vulnerable to the run. Assuming we can stay balanced on offense, I think we score enough to win.

Defensively, run D has been a question mark and will be one of the keys to this game. Nothing I've seen from Burrow or the WR group at LSU makes me worry about our pass defense.

Run D has only been a question mark when we were defending pass. Letting them get their little 5 yd runs instead of giving up the explosive play. Let them get in the redzone, where they can't stretch the field, then feast.

It's deadly.

They have played no one so far, even a FCS team. They are putting up good numbers, but not a Tua lead Bama numbers.

I tend to agree with you Rig. I point it out simply because from a neutral perspective, which is most in this thread, it technically hasn't been proven.

Personally, I don't think LSU has a remarkably proficient offense and that we will be able to key the run due to Burrow not being much of a threat.

Excited to watch this one for sure. Always love playing LSU.

Agreed. Teams have had limited success running against us when the numbers are in their favor (i.e. spread formation with only 5 or 6 defenders in the box). When we need to defend the run and even things up or run blitz, we have been strong. Vandy broke a couple of those runs on us early, and I think we were more aggressive in our run blitzes than we had been the previous 5 games.
