re: Fair question for SEC fans:
Posted by gators2417 on 12/6/18 at 10:59 am
They have gotten it right since it has came into play. There is definitely some unfairness. If it went to 6 or 8 teams, I think it would be better, but there would still be complaints.
I think having polls at the start of the year is what needs to change. Being picked in the top 10 based on the opinions of writers/coaches that your team will be that good without playing a game is wrong. It gives those teams such an advantage. Auburn was a pre season top 10 team, explain that! Wait until October 1st to pass out rankings. I know that will still leave Non- power 5 teams out, but at least we will have a better idea of who the best teams are.

2. LSU
3. FL
??????????
If only there was a way to know which of these teams was better. Like if they could play on the field against each other or something like that :dope:

re: Notre Dame is problematic for the SEC

This is exactly right! You are penalizing a team for qualifying for 1 extra game that they lose to the #1 team. It is not right, and if 2 undefeated SEC teams make the SEC title, they should just not play haha and do exactly what ND is doing, and sit at home. Until ND joins a conference, they should not be eligible for the CFP, what better way to get them to commit to the ACC in football than to leave them out of this year's CFP, send a damn message!

UGA is easily the 2nd best team behind Bama. If UGA goes undefeated heading into the SEC title game, are they in? People are acting like ND is a lock, but can UGA be penalized for qualifying for an extra game against the #1 team and losing? Notre Dame does not play in a conference, and that should mean something. You can't penalize a team for losing a conference championship game when ND just gets to sit at home right? Nobody is talking about that, but I would have a huge problem if ND gets in over UGA, and I am a Florida fan lol. I can just see the chaos coming already!

LSU might win the game, heck they might blow UF out, one game means nothing. People get wrapped up in one game too often in this sport, Ole Miss beats Bama, well Bama is done, and now look at them, it is crazy. LSU is at home, they should win this game, but if Florida can contain LF, and hold him to normal numbers, I think UF wins this game. Best D LSU has played against, and will play against all year, very excited to see how this game shakes out. Not many things beat a game in Death Valley at night! Go Gators!

Florida makes the playoffs and plays Urban and the Buckeyes in the first round.
Jeff Driskel has a huge year and goes to New York as a Heisman finalist.

Not SEC related but I played against Madison Bumgarner. Easily the toughest at bat of my life. Got a foul tip but that was all she wrote.

Hell of a game Tigers, and congrats on the W. Your SS, Bregman, is quite a ball player. If we are fortunate enough to make it to Omaha, I'd love to see these two match up again. All good vibes here, we are still SEC Champs!!!!!!!!!!!! Chomp Chomp

I don't know I Florida should ever count as a dark horse, but I see them having a very similar season to Missouri's in 2013. Injury plagued the year before with a lot of talent coming back. Plus they play LSU, Mizzou, and USC in the swamp. Only true road game that should be tough is Bama (Tenn could give them problems though). Very easily could go 7-1 or 6-2 in conference with head to head victories over the schools that matter in the east.
I cannot believe I am saying this, but for the first time ever, I agree with a Georgia fan on everything you have written. I hope to God that you are right with your post. It would make for one very interesting Sat, Nov 1st in Jax!

UGA schedule is until 2020, when no one knows how the teams will be.
This is nothing new for UGA, even though it is insane to try and guess who will be up and down all the way to 2020. I believe Auburn 2013 is a great example of that, and hopefully Florida 2014!

Obviously I felt best after NC wins, and horrible after SEC title losses, so I won't count those. Just regular season games, I would say:
Best: 08 UGA cause I was there. 49-10 still fresh in my mind.
Worst: 04 Tennessee. Unsportsmanlike Conduct game

Hats of the Cats, beat some outstanding teams. Funny how things have worked out for UF. So happy to get a chance at uconn again, I feel really good about that game. I want Wisky to win the other one to set up another revenge game. Can't have UK there, nearly impossible to beat a team 4 times in the same season. Go Gators!!!!

Huge win tonight. Big time props to the bench tonight. Hill, Finney-Smith, and Walker were outstanding. That UCLA team is no joke, and to fight off each of their runs was pretty amazing considering Young and Prather got 4 fouls with a ton of time left. Still have some unfinished business, but hell of a win tonight Gator Nation!!!! Beat Dayton!!!!

As said earlier, they don't have a post presence but they managed to dominate despite that
By dominate, who are you talking about? Tulsa and SFA? I know they had some solid wins in the Pac 12 Tourney, but they also got smashed by a terrible Washington State team 2 weeks ago. Florida has 6 wins against two very hot teams currently in the Sweet 16. UCLA reminds me of mizzou, though more talented obviously than the tigers. Mizzou has a tall point guard and some big time scorers. Also, Missouri did beat UCLA this year, it did happen way back in December, but just wanted to throw that out there
re: Sweet 16. Who you got?

Saying Arizona has a better defense than Florida is laughable. There is no question UCLA has height, and they are extremely athletic. Anderson is a match up nightmare, but there is something about this Florida team, and their defense is lights out. UCLA lacks a post presence, and I think that is where Florida exploits them. Florida has to limit the bruins 3s, and if they do, Florida cruises.

UCLA is very underrated. Ton of talent and they are on fire.
Wouldn't you say Florida is on fire as well? What is it up to now, 28 wins in a row? I think Patric Young leads Florida to a win. Similar to the pitt game, close at half and then Florida will pull away in the 2nd half. Florida is so good at taking what you do best away. Adams will have a tough time finding open looks, and a couple Frazier 3s open it up for UF. GO GATORS!!!!!
re: SEC Tournament Championship: UF vs. UK III predictions

quote:I think by tired legs he meant that Florida has gone through mizzou and tennessee, while kentucky has had lsu and uga. Tennessee is a lot better than uga, and any team would have had their hand full with the vols yesterday. I do think the rule of 3 comes into play, and uk probly pulls this one off, just like in 2011, when Florida had the tougher road, and got crushed in that final game. I would be surprised if UF got blown out, but I could easily see this underachieving kentucky team knock Florida off tomorrow.
Nice pre excuse, but the reality may be the 3 game rule
re: Would Arkansas beat Florida right now in basketball?
Posted by gators2417 on 3/6/14 at 1:05 am
Are you kidding me? Yes Arky is playing well, but consider how hot they are, and look at Florida. The Gators have not lost a game in 3 months dude. If you want to talk about the last game against Arky, Prather didn't play, Young was banged up, and Wilbekin had a bad ankle, and UF still beat them in BWA. I am hoping on Semi-Final Saturday to see the Hogs, so Florida can send Hog Nation back to reality, but Georgia probably beats your Hogs.
re: What did we learn today?

Florida did not look awful on offense. They got a great game from a back up running back. JD looked much more in control than last year. Do you really think they were going to open up the playbook before going to miami next weekend? The defense looked fantastic against a solid offense. Very pleased with Week 1 from UF
