Some say we don’t practice 9 on 7 at all. Which explains our o line fricking up run plays and our d missing their fits at times

We have no depth. This isn't like before where it's nect man up, that doesn't exist in some areas because B1G introduced transfer portal eliminated all that.
This. Somehow people can’t get into their thick heads this is not 2012-2021 anymore. Alabama does not have the quality depth it once had. Nobody really does.
The folks here though, see we get a Michigan scrub in the offseason and somehow believe this guy is an exceptional talent! Has to be.
Spring ball hits and the lying and exaggeration starts about how great ole “so and so” is gonna be. Then we find out it’s just in practice without pads.
The season starts, injuries occur and top level guys go out. The level of play drops and fans start calling for the coordinators heads.
How many times do we need to hear “run the ball damnit!”
Well, guess what, the play after McDonald’s int was a run. For no gain. The second play. A run for two yards. Then it’s third snd long.
Multiple times the run game went nowhere on the first two downs.
The long pass to Rico at the end of the 3rd quarter was on third down after two run plays that went nowhere.

The failure of the passing game against UGA and TN was a failure of the core concepts of that passing game against elite defenses because we couldn't get open and couldnt protect long enough for the deep routes to work.
we couldn't get open and couldnt protect long enough for the deep routes to work.
The failure was not having an offensive coordinator that would adjust to what the defense was giving them! Hit some of those and the run game opens up!
Plain and simple!

As long as Grubb is the OC there is not going to much consistency or thinks that make sense logically. I've said for a long time, by watching his play calling, there is something basically wrong in the way he thinks.

He is attempting to "stack plays" when he puts a plan together. His problem is that he has no answer when a player makes a mistake or the defense makes a great play. After his "stack sheet" - he's got nothing

I don’t live in a fantasy land where you lose Jonah Williams in a national title game and a future first rounder Cam Robinson comes in and kicks arse.
Leatherwood was the replacement for Jonah Williams, but your point stands.

Part of it is the play call then you add the coaching.
The play call is what it is. When you can’t execute it reliably, or even half the time why are you calling it?
Why can’t we execute? 2 reasons I think. 1 - They’re drilled to their assignment, no “keep your eyes open” mentality to adjust. No idea if that’s true but as many guys as we’ve seen just run past someone I wonder.
2 - Confusion. Guys are just missing assignments over and over. I don’t know if it’s communication on changes due to defensive alignment, or we have too many variations off the same play they get crossed up on what to do.
