That a one loss defending national champ would be left out isn't the same thing you're trying to make it be.

Hard to overcome selection bias.

Any SEC team not named Alabama basically needs to win the conference or at least the division.

The “committee” could have “selected” A&M, but they’ve got other choices they can “defend.”

With COVID-19 causing massive revenue losses, the committee pivoted to Notre Dame or Oklahoma to bring in another big brand.

Also they like an Oklahoma versus Aggies for their NY6 game.

A&M is good, but the committee will point out a 28 point loss is a big loss.

Win the division, win the league.

A&M beat everyone on their schedule minus #1 Alabama. ND lost to #3 Clemson. With lawrence healthy, they would have lost twice. Other than that their best win is over #21 USC.
