This seems like an awful lot of construction for a new goal post

It's amazing how long they are taking. It looks to be maybe 40% complete.

At least they are using concrete, though.

I don't like the modern method of using erector set construction.

(And before Auburzonians get angry at me using their pic, it's only because I couldn't find one of our north endzone)

It does seem like it’s taking forever for vandy to finish this project.

Concrete takes forever to cure but they could have had it all done much sooner. It looks like they haven't even started on the buildout.

Using EV powered machines slows the process down but it’s helping reduce the impact of storms that develop in the Gulf of Mexico

Looks like it is working. We haven't had those in a long time.

Vandy has been enlarging their stadium to 10k for a year.

FYI, Concrete reaches about 90% of comprehensive design strength in about 14 days. Will meet or exceed design strength in 28 days.
Interesting fact, as Concrete ages, the comprehensive strength keeps getting stronger. Demolition of concrete gets harder the older it is.
Form labor is what takes a little time as removal normally lags that first two weeks cure time.

That's why I said "but they could have had it all done much sooner."

You don't pour all of the concrete at the same time though. You have to do it in phases. It's an amazing material.

Have you heard of the self-healing method that the Romans used? They basically added quick-lime and heated the concrete while mixing.

This is a good read:

When did MIT become SEC?

I ain't reading that Yankee propaganda from a school that doesn't have a FBS win in my lifetime.

Well, here's an excerpt:

quote:

“The benefits of hot mixing are twofold,” Masic says. “First, when the overall concrete is heated to high temperatures, it allows chemistries that are not possible if you only used slaked lime, producing high-temperature-associated compounds that would not otherwise form. Second, this increased temperature significantly reduces curing and setting times since all the reactions are accelerated, allowing for much faster construction.”

I wonder how long or if ever, they will start using this ancient method.

Once the Pyramids are gone they will use migrants to begin building a new Kingdom.

One thing for sure Murph, you're a true ALA-Bama fan.

Yes landmass knew that. Also, Chinese added a rice glue to their morter mixes like we do epoxies.

You misspelled Mexicans. They built the great wall of China after all.
